"Tell me, are you mad about what happened to Eli, or are there other reasons?"
Saint pursed her lips and held her emotions back. How dare he keep that woman in his office even when she mentioned divorce? "I don't care about your business. I'm just your bodyguard. Any woman can visit and sit at your table every day." She looked away.
Sandro enveloped her in a tight hug. An accomplished grin stretched his lips. "Are you jealous?"
She scoffed at the mention of that emotion. "Why would I be jealous? We're only married on paper. Don't expect me to act like a jealous wife. I don't feel anything for you," with all her strength, she pushed his arms around her and walked away. She found Amanda eavesdropping outside the door while Train's eyes glimmered with concern.
Saint waited inside the car in the parking lot. It was almost the end of Sandro's shift when she confronted him. She might be furious, but she still needed to fulfil her duty as his bodyguard.
After a few minutes, the clock hit five. From a distance, Saint could see a group of reporters and paparazzi waiting for someone. Her hunch was confirmed when the people turned wild once Sandro stepped out of the building. The reporters blocked her view from the car.
She stepped out of the car and ran to Sandro's location. She couldn't sneak inside the thick layer of crowded people, but her small stature helped her fit into small gaps. Once she reached the middle of the crowd, she found Sandro protecting Amanda from the reporters.
Sandro's eyes met hers. His eyes were full of emotions, but her eyes held none.
The reporters noticed Saint and shifted their focus on her. "How are you related to Mayor Sandro?" All the cameras were now pointing at her. She couldn't figure out why they were giving her this much attention.
"I request everyone to move aside. I'm Mayor Sandro's bodyguard." The people who asked her did not put any effort into hiding their laughter.
"How can you protect Mayor Sandro? It looks like you need more protection than him?" mocked another reporter. Saint looked at that person's face and studied it carefully.
"Are you Mayor Sandro's connection from the outskirts? Did you order the attack against Eli Santiago? Please explain these pictures."
Saint was shocked to see the photos Eli gave her, but she did not let her emotions show.
"Mayor Sandro, answer the question. This fragile woman is not your spokesperson, too, right?" The people around them laughed again. It was the same reporter who mocked her a while ago.
She looked back and found Sandro's arm wrapped around Amanda, still protecting her. Using his other hand, Sandro reached out to her. "Come here. You shouldn't have come. They might hurt you."
Saint yanked his hand away. "I don't need your protection," she whispered back.
Her senses were alerted when she felt a gaze from afar. In a brief second, the man charged in their direction and whipped out a knife, aiming at Sandro. No one noticed the attack but her.
Saint quickly barricaded Sandro with her body and waited for the knife to come to her. She locked the man's arm with hers, causing the weapon to drop and the man to scream in pain.
If not for the man's screaming, the people around would never notice. The reporters moved back. Saint found herself in the middle of the circle of people while restraining the attacker.
"Who sent you?" Her voice was like ice.
"Sandro deserves to die. We want Eli. All hail Eli!" The man looked at her. That was when she took notice of the man's eyes. It was red and moving rapidly. The man was under some kind of drugs.
No one made a move. Everyone was still shocked at what had happened. How can they not notice the attack when their bodies were pressed together?
Sandro, on the other hand, let go of Amanda. He walked near his wife. He felt how tense her body was. "Saint, no one's hurt. Let go."
Saint could feel her anger surge through her body. Her rational mind fought over her irrationality. "Yes, boss." She let go of the man's arm. He ran away but was captured by the police, who came right in time.
The police helped them shoo the reporters away. It did not take them long before they reached the car in peace. Saint did not say anything when Amanda reached for the car door and sat in the backseat.
"Sandro, I was really scared. How can they do that to you?" Tears filled Amanda's eyes. Her body was shaking and her hair was dishevelled.
Saint pursed her lips to stop herself from talking back.
Sandro, who was sitting in the passenger's seat, looked back and smiled sadly at Amanda. "It's fine now. We'll drive you to your home."
"I think it would be better if you would sit at the back. Amanda badly needs your support right now," she interrupted. From the side of her eye, she saw Amanda smiling triumphantly.
"Are you okay? Were you hurt?" Instead, Sandro turned to her and touched her arm. Concern was seen in his eyes, but she did not care anymore. Her mind was busy processing important events.
"I'm none of your concern. Move back, now."
Sandro did not want to fight with her and followed. The moment his butt reached the backseat, Amanda threw herself on top of him, crying her eyes out.
Saint did not waste another second and sped out of the place. Amanda's crying stopped as she hastily put her seatbelt on. Sandro did the same, but he did not show agitation like the first time Saint drove for him.
"Can you please slow down?" Amanda hysterically pleaded. Her fake tears were now real. She was crying for the sake of her life.
Saint did not respond and rushed towards an open railway. The level crossing signals were down—a sign that a train was approaching. However, it did not stop Saint from driving through it. The muscle car fitted the gap perfectly.
Amanda screamed and cried while her eyes closed shut.
The car crossed the railway road at the exact time the train drove by. There was not a single scratch on the bumper.
"Are you trying to kill me?" Amanda was hysterically crying in the backseat.
"You'd be dead if I really tried," Saint said calmly. Her eyes fell on Sandro's. He was looking deadly but calm—a dangerous combination.
