No one uttered a single word. Saint walked up to their bedroom while Sandro stayed inside the car for a little bit.
She hated the blossoming feeling in her chest. How can that woman's presence provoke her? She's not a child anymore! "I f*****g hate all of you!" she screamed out her lungs once the water from the shower echoed throughout the bathroom, muffling her screams.
"All you do is flirt with that woman while Eli is ruining your reputation. Don't you have other important things to do?" she let out another scream.
"I regret marrying you. I want a divorce!"
Saint almost jumped when she felt another body pressed against her back. She gasped and turned red.
Did he hear anything?
"You mentioned divorce a couple of times today. Do you really think you can get it easily?" Sandro wrapped his arms around her waist. He pressed his naked body closer to her.
She let out another gasp when she felt a very familiar sensation coming from the thing between his legs. He was rock solid!
"I want to take a bath alone." She's not falling for his mischief. She hated how relaxed he was. Had he forgotten that she almost killed him minutes ago?
"I already let you slip away. That won't happen again." Sandro turned her body to face him. His eyes showed controlled emotions.
Their bodies were drenched in water. Sandro held her firmly in place. She did not dare look at him and stared at his chest instead.
"Look at me," his voice sounded like music to her ears. How could she be this shallow? Hearing his voice eases up her mood. "Baby, please?" he pleaded.
That was Saint's final straw. She looked at his tantalizing eyes. The water droplets on his hair, face, and chest made him more handsome. He looked like a model fresh out of a magazine.
"Why are you still messing with me? Have you forgotten that I almost killed you with your lover?" Her eyes were dark, and her voice sounded indifferent.
"You told me that you'd never kill me. You promised." Sandro was desperate to have a better conversation with her, but he couldn't find the right words to say. "I don't know why Amanda was there. We used to go to college together. When you saw us in the office, she just came by. I did not expect her to act that way."
Saint looked at the wall beside her, trying to amuse herself.
"She's not my lover, you are."
She was done. She escaped from his arms and walked out of the shower. After wrapping herself in a robe, she looked back and gave her piece of mind, "I'm not your lover. I'm just your arranged wife."
Sandro was left under the water, his jaw almost reached the tiled floor. He could never imagine himself stooping this low and explaining something he was not at fault for, but he did anyway, for Saint. And all he got in return was her cold shoulder.
That woman is unbelievable!
If not for his desire to make this marriage work, he would never have done anything like that. But his conscience reminded him of his aching heart. He held unto the feeling. He was starting to like Saint and what they have.
Unlike Saint, Sandro admitted to his feelings.
Sandro went out of the shower and put on a robe when he noticed Saint's discarded clothes lying on the floor. He picked it up and was surprised when he saw blood until he realized where that blood came from.
Upon realization, he pieced things together and understood why Saint was acting like that. He smiled and read the care tag on her underwear.
Handwash.
With his long, meticulous hands, he scrubbed the thin fabric with mild detergent soap. His smile never left his lips. Once the blood was washed out, he air-dried the clean underwear.
When he went out in his fresh pyjamas, he found Saint lying on the bed while covered with a thick duvet. He sat on his side of the bed and lowered the duvet to see her face.
Saint looked sharply at him, but his face was radiating happiness.
"Should we get ice cream, chocolate, or pain reliever perhaps?" he asked, full of concern.
Her brows met as she tried to understand his sudden offering. Why is he so understanding of her? Wasn't he mad because of her outbursts?
Realization dawned on her and her eyes widened. Her mood swings and cravings—it all made sense now. "Why?' her lips trembled as she asked for confirmation. She wanted to ask 'how did you know?' but her mouth could only bare 'why.'
"I found blood in your underwear." His voice carried the same concern he had for her.
Saint's face turned bright red. She covered her face with the sheets in panic. How can she not notice? She thought that the muscle cramps she felt were from the bruising she got from the attack.
Sandro panicked at her reaction. "Don't worry. I already cleaned your underwear."
She erupted from the sheets. "You did what?!"
"I hand washed it. I followed the care tag." That was his defence. He did nothing wrong.
Saint buried her face in the pillow and screamed, "This is f*****g embarrassing." She wished the floor to swallow her whole, but that did not happen.
Sandro waited, but Saint did not release her face from the pillow. Out of concern, he grabbed her waist and carried her to his lap. "Were you trying to suffocate yourself, woman?"
She tried covering her face with her long hair, but Sandro held her chin firmly. "You go crazy during the time of the month, huh? It explains your actions for today. I forgive you." His tone had a hint of teasing.
"How are my actions my fault? I was busy dealing with your s**t all day, while all you did was laugh and chitchat with that woman, Amanda! You should've told me you had a daily visitor before you hired me as a bodyguard."
Sandro supported her back as he lay on the bed frame. He listened intently to her whining. "You really hate her."
"Oh, I loathe her. She was so full of herself just because she knew you earlier than I did. She was so proud she could recite your blood type, allergies, birthday, favourite food, colour, and number. I know none of that! How can I compete with that? I haven't finished things with Eli, and now that Amanda is already acting up. Can you give me a break?"
She was fuming mad. She just remembered that she needed to deal with Eli again regarding the released pictures, but she couldn't get hold of her emotions.
"You have to compete with her?" Sandro asked with a broad grin on his face.
"Why do I have to compete with her? She's nothing against me."
"You just told me," still, with a grin on his lips.
Saint was flustered after realizing what she had said. She unconsciously slapped her mouth for saying unwanted words.
Sandro laughed and pinched her cheeks before kissing her all over her face.
