After I left from talking to Dessa, we stopped and got food, and then went back to the hotel. When we got to the penthouse, I ate my food and then got busy with work. I had a lot of paperwork to get caught up on, and I had a couple of meetings that I was doing over FaceTime.
I went through all of my emails and got them caught up, and then finished up all the paperwork that I had. When it was time for the meetings, I sat through each one of them. Thankfully, the first couple didn't take long. But the last meeting had me pissed off and ready to fire an entire team.
The general manager at one of my plants f****d up big time, and now we are out of over five thousand dollars' worth of product. When he did the ordering, he messed up and ordered way too much salt. Well, the salt got placed with the sugar since the bags were the big ones and similar to the sugar.
When they made candy today, they didn't notice that they messed up until the first batch of candy was done, and an employee had tried one of them. When he bit into it and tasted nothing but salt, he went back to where it's all made and started checking s**t out. When he found the problem, he went to the GM, who then tried to blame the employees for f*****g up.
He wasn't even going to call me, so the employee himself to the liberty to let my secretary know what the hell happened. Looking back over the paperwork, it was the GM who did the ordering and who f****d it all up. I didn't know that at the time that I had the video meeting until my secretary texted me and told me what actually happened. That's why I almost fired that whole damn staff.
Since my secretary told me what actually happened, the only one who got fired was the GM. He tried to give me some whiny-ass line about it almost being Christmas, and it was wrong for me to fire him. He was on his last damn warning. This isn't the first time that he's f****d up. But it is the first time that he's cost us this much f*****g money.
After he got fired, I looked into the guy who had let my secretary know about the problem. He graduated with a bachelor's in business administration and has a minor in accounting, marketing, and management. He got hired here right after he graduated and was put on line work. When he should have been put in the office.
The GM didn't even look at his resume. Just saw that he was a forty-year-old who graduated from college recently and didn't want to take a chance on him. So I moved him into the office. And moved the lady who was under the GM into the GM position. I also gave them both a raise and gave him a bonus since he's the only one who caught the problem. It could have been way worse.
I dont have the time to do it now, but once Christmas is over, I will be going over all of the employees for each of my businesses and making sure that they are working where they need to be. I won't put someone who has a degree in a lower position just to be an ass like the GM did. I put them where we need them the most and where they fit the best.
Once that was finally taken care of, I finished up with my work for the day. And I was about to go get a shower so that I could get ready for my date. As I stood up, my phone rang, and as much as I wanted to ignore the call, I couldn't. It was my dad's ringtone. So I sat back down to answer the phone.
"Hello, Dad, what can I do for you today. Didn't I already talk to you once today?" I asked him. "You did, yes, but I'm calling because I have news. I just talked to King Alder. It seems that his oldest daughter, Flora, has found her mate and is getting married. We have all been invited to the wedding when she has it. I dont have a date just yet, but I'm told it'll probably be soon. Alder is really upset because they still cant find their youngest daughter, and they wanted her married first since she's to be queen," he told me.
"Then maybe they should have let her wait to get married until she met her mate. You all tried to through us together to be married when you yourself would have been pissed if Granpa did the same thing to you at my age. If he tried to force you to marry someone who isn't your mate. You never would have gone through with it. But yet you give me hell for not wanting to marry someone who isn't my mate. Let me ask you something: would you force Holly, Eve, or Carol to marry a man who isn't their mate? What would you do if someone wanted you to set up a marriage contract with one of them, and he wasn't her mate? You wouldn't do it. But yet you're trying to make me. I dont blame the girl for running away from her family. She wants to find and marry her mate, I'm sure, and she should have that chance. I'll be there for the princess's wedding when she gets married. But there will not be any talk of my marrying the King and Queens youngest daughter. Or I will leave, and I won't be back. The same thing goes for Christmas Eve. One mention of it and I'll leave and not return. Do you understand me?" I asked him.
"You're just as stubborn as ever. But yes, I understand you. I won't mention it. But let me ask you something. How do you know that she's not your mate? The two of you hadn't even seen each other since she was a small baby. So how did you know that our future queen isn't your mate?" he asked me.
"If I ever meet her face-to-face and she is my mate, then I would marry her. But if she isn't, I wouldn't marry her. I would let her be free to find the mate that she has out there. If we are actually mates, then we would have found that out after she turned eighteen and started helping with Christmas every year, like her parents and grandparents before them have. But you all pushed the wedding bullshit, and she ran, and now we'll never know. Now I dont have to argue anymore. I have a business date, and I'm now running late for it. I'll talk to you later. I love you. Goodbye," I said and hung up.
I tossed my phone on the table and went to take a shower and get dressed. After my shower, I put on a pair of dress pants and a dress shirt. I put some gel in my hair to style it and then put on my socks and shoes. When I was ready, I put my watch back on and grabbed my wallet, phone, and key and headed out of the hotel.
Since I was close to the bistro she told me to meet her at, I decided to just walk. Cane and Nico were both walking behind me so that I'd have protection. Not that I actually needed it. I couldn't be killed. Not by humans anyway.
When I got to the bistro, I looked through the window and realized why she wanted to come here. This place allowed animals, and she had that big assed bird with her. He was standing on a perch behind where she was sitting, and she looked so beautiful. I took a breath in and let it out. I dont know why I was so nervous, but I felt like a boy going on his first date. Here we go, wish me luck.
