The Luna's Undying Love

Growing up, I wasn't sure if I would ever find my mate, nor did I care to, but looking back on it now, it seems utterly ridiculous that I had no care in the world to find him. My name is Ada, I was raised in a small town named Moonville within the Lycan royal borders. We are almost unheard of if it wasn't for the alpha king's mistress being from here we wouldn't be. I never cared to have many friends. It seemed overrated. My mother has been my mentor, trainer, and even my best friend for a majority of my life. The other pack females would pick on me, calling me ugly and despicable for looking like my father, constantly hating on my dark blonde curls, my blue-ish green eyes, and my slenderness. My biological father was a bit of a monster in their eyes. He did horrible things under the command of the previous alpha king. He died before I even turned one. My mother depicts him as a saint, but I know she's just trying to keep a good image of him in both my eyes and hers. After he died, we pretty much went bankrupt. My mother makes her living by being a servant to the royal family which doesn't pay much but gets us by. My mother eventually found her second chance mate, an elf, within the castle walls when I was about twelve, William has come to be my dad and only father figure. My little sister -Ajita- is a five year old hybrid, part wolf, part elf, which did not exactly make the bullying better. I love her as if she were my own child, taking care of her while Mom and Dad work constantly. In our pack lands, most wolves do not agree with our alpha king's most difficult decision to let other races and creatures into our homes, for they believe it is dangerous for their well-being. I do not believe our alpha king had much of a choice in the matter. You see... About three years ago, we were deep in a worldwide war, every creature fighting for their own lands and rights. Our alpha king ended it on the wolves' end with multiple treaties within the world so that we may go about our business and normal, peaceful lives. I won't lie, the alpha king became even more attractive and desirable to everyone after that. "There's nothing like a man who cares about internal and external peace" the girls say in awe. He's supposedly the most handsome, "drop-dead gorgeous" man in the whole kingdom. Maybe I am just immune to the dying wish of most to be his Luna. I am freshly nineteen as my birthday was only last week and I have not smelled my mate or even thought about him till now in the last year. All of the mated older wolves in our small town make it a point to rub it in every mateless wolf's face. They enjoy bragging on and on about the mouth-watering scent of their mates and the eternal bond between them. I don't believe I care too much about finding my "missing piece," my "other half," my soulmate because I have been doing just fine without him. I enjoy sleeping with my current s****l partner and roommate, Roland, most nights. He makes me feel fulfilled when I am lonely. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to fulfill her own needs. Roland seems to think this whole mating thing is special and important, so I'll probably be out of a s****l partner and roommate when he finds his. I used to have a crush on Roland when I was younger. His short, dark curly hair and his piercing green eyes make him irresistible (not to mention his manly piece is quite nice too). I'm actually with him right now, I just woke up to his green eyes watching my naked body while I sleep. He smirks and runs his finger along my naked torso. "You are breathtaking, ya know?" He says as he makes eye contact with me. I blush slightly and try to hold in a laugh. "It's far too early in the morning to be making a woman blush." I say as I cover my face with a pillow, hoping to block out the sunlight. He gets up and begins to put on his jeans from the night before. I peak out from behind the pillow admiring his naked body. It truly is gorgeous. His six pack is sculpted as if it came from the Goddess herself. "Stop whining, you know you love it." He smirks, "I'll see you tonight? Gotta head to work, " He says as he leans in to kiss me before he goes. Our dynamic would confuse anyone from the outside looking in, but it works for us, we share a one bedroom apartment in the middle of our small town. It makes rent so much less and we enjoy each other's company. My mother of course thinks we're dating, going on and on about how beautiful our children would be. Before I started living with Roland she would push me to go on dates and find my mate. She likes Roland though and thinks he's a great match for me, obviously the Moon Goddess disagrees. I eventually get up to take a shower before I start my online classes for the day. I am currently studying to teach art to the pups in our small town but I'm not sure how to feel about it yet. I chose this focused study on a whim because I went undecided for about 2 years and I wanted to open my horizons. My schedule alters from day to day, today's class a guided child-development course. I log on and see that my teacher has left us with six total assignments for the day. A breeze compared to my other classes. I take part in a fast paced course so I may graduate before I change my mind. I'm not the best decision maker. I'm curious, where do I go from here? I act on impulse a lot more than a woman my age should.
