Thrown Away
Elara's POV
“Eighteen years! My father, Alpha Aldric roared, his rage barely concealed. "For eighteen years, Isolde, not a single boy!”
"Please, my Alpha," my mother, Luna Isolde mumbled weakly.
“Don’t speak while I speak woman!" he scowled. "All the hundreds of pounds of gold I made your father give you just to take you off of his hands when you were just fourteen? The gold I spent on the wedding? The gifts I presented to your parents just to get you mated into my pack? And all that for what?”
I felt like throwing up when he embarrassed my mother in front of people. The councilors sat impatiently, yet not one of them dared to utter a single word during the time that he was speaking, as his anger had no boundaries.
"I spent so much ," he continued. “And what did I het out of it?” he waved his hand at me. "This!" Scowling as though I were a sore to his eyes.
Just then all the pairs of eyes in the room were turned upon me.
"A female!" he spat. "Eighteen years of mating. Not one boy born! You failed me, Isolde."
My mother sank on her knees with clasped hands crying and imploring. “Give me one more opportunity, my Alpha. Please. Probably we shall be blessed with a male child.”
He sniffed a horrible laughter which only made my rage worse. "One more chance? I have been working at it in the bedroom more than any other man eighteen years, you woman... Eighteen years! This worthless girl is what you gave me instead. That is all you gave me; this worthless girl.”
I would have liked to speak, have something to say, and my mouth remained firmly closed.
His head turned back toward the council. “Take my word to her father and go to his land, and tell him to give me back all the gold I have wasted upon her. I do not want her my mate any more.”
Mother was sniveling, and her shoulders shook and the mucus streaming down her nose.
"Father..." I tried to say, but the whisper was insignificant.
"Shut up! A woman ought not to interrupt when a man is speaking! And you keep thy mouth shut when men are speaking!” He screamed at me, veins bulging on his forehead.
I froze.
“You women,” he scowled, “you are nothing tools in the kitchen-- lying in bed with a husband and getting out a son after a son. You came into the world to serve, not to talk.”
I felt something break somewhere in me, then I wanted to respond, to comment, but I held my tongue. I am not being killed because I opened my dumb trap.
Then he gestured at me again. “And this one-this thing-this is no daughter of mine. She's a curse! She consumed all the sons that her mother should have. That's why none of them lived!"
There was deathly silence in the room. The lights in themselves appeared to fade.
Blinking my eyes to force back my tears, his words rang in my ears
Did he even say to me, Eat unborn brothers?
I stared at him, and was trying to determine whether he was serious, or merely crazy, by the fact that he clenched his jaw, it is most likely both.
"I didn't do anything like that!" I was unable to prevent spitting out.
"Be silent!" Banging his hand on the table he yelled. “ You are a disgrace to the alpha house. That is the reason why I have kept you so many years out of sight. What would become of an alpha to demonstrate to the world that the first born to him is a girl? A tool?”
He spat to his side.
“You believe I disguised you because I loved you and wanted to protect you ? No. I concealed you, you know, you added to my humiliation. The gods cursed me with you. The last 4 years I have been seeking a man who would have marry you and s*x with you but no one was interested in you!”
I only wished to vanish at this moment. I felt like my skin was on fire, my ears were ringing and I could hardly breathe.
The Alpha returned to the council. 'They're both cursed. Hang them now!'
There were gasps in the hall, and my mother was screaming, “Please! We're not cursed, my Alpha! You surely know that!"
One of the council elders, an old wrinkled man with not much teeth, said, “I already put them on trial months ago, your Supremacy. The pack court and seers proved their innocence. It is not true to execute them now.”
The Alpha glared at him. “So tell me what you are implying, Elder
“Again,” the elder said, with caution, “It will start a rebellion in case you punish them. The parents of Luna Isolde have another significant pack, which is going to ruin the peace of Taranth and their land.”
"So we just let them go?" the Alpha snapped.
The elder hesitated. "Take away their titles. deny them their right to the pack.
There was a silence in the room a moment. Then the Alpha smirked. "Fine. If I cannot s*******r them, I will simply wipe them off.
My mother raised her head off the floor and her face was streaming with tears. "Please, no..."
"Guards!" the Alpha yelled. "Take away every pack symbol. Everything."
My heart only sunk as two guards came forward. They didn't even look at us. They began by removing the crown, necklace, her bracelets, her rings, the brooch on her robe of her mother.
Then they came for me.
“Do not touch her,” , my mother screamed in reply, attempting to reach me, when another guard grabbed a hold of her and she was firmly bound.
I stood motionless as the man removed all
Royal clothing from my body. The great pack cloak dropped on the floor. They took out the pin in my sleeves, my robe--anything that had a Taranth crest.
In a few seconds we both would be standing naked in our underclothes. The gazes of courtiers and servants about us made my face crimson hot.
“Look, the shamelessness of Taranth. The sterile Luna and her deluseless daughter. From today, you are naught. You are not a title, have no power, or rights to this pack estate.” My father boasted. “With you all and the moon goddess as my witness, I, Alpha Aldric of Taranth, say, Isolde and her daughter Elara are not a
part of this pack. They have been stripped of all, and expelled out of this estate now!”
