Chapter 16

1413 Words
It was not a party. It was Aiden giving his all to humiliate her. She was bound here too, in a stupid wooden chair that Vincent had taken upon himself to tie her to, rather angrily, seeing no reason with her regardless of whatever she said. She'd never seen him that angry before, and she hated herself for it. Damn, she felt stupid. Waiting in the living room like an i***t. Waiting in an empty cottage for Aiden and his women with numbers for names. Yes, she had annoyed Aiden. She just didn't understand what he wanted to do to her at this so-called party. She wondered and wondered, her heart pounding erratically, every sound seeming unbearably loud. Where the hell was Aiden!? At this point, she grew impatient and tugged at the ropes with her shoulders, trying to see just how tightly she'd been tied to the chair. Very tightly, apparently. Each of her ankles was tied to the front legs of the chair, so even if she tried to move, she couldn't. Vincent wasn't Aiden's Beta for nothing. He'd learned from the best. She was stuck in a stupid chair, waiting for her punishment. The door creaked open, and a cacophony of laughter greeted her. Her face went pale with anger when she saw the women walk in together, dressed rather elegantly—not in lingerie. They had bottles of liquor with them and plastic bags. It was as if they'd just come from a party and stopped by the grocery store on their way back. "Ooooh, what do we have here!?" Sheila exclaimed in sheer excitement, her eyes gleaming as she looked at Diana like she was a huge present. The other girls had the same expression. They were more than excited. "This has nothing to do with you girls, I promise," Diana announced, trying to sound calm and unaffected. Except that her voice betrayed her. The anger in it was obvious, no matter how subtly she intended to express herself. "Dear, dear. And yet she claims she's the Luna..." Sheila added, letting out a laugh that made Diana feel small. "Enjoy the show, girls! It's your lucky night. Looks like I'm the subject of the party." Diana forced courage into her voice, and this time, she got a different reaction. Their smiles disappeared, replaced by scowls and frowns. "I'm just waiting. The moment you become less important to Aiden and Elena, I'll crush you. I'll crush you into powder, into tiny, invisible pieces you wouldn't even recognize," Sheila promised, her mouth contorting into different shapes as she spoke. "Tonight is a special night that has absolutely nothing to do with you. Our Alpha is coming to be pleased, and we'll give him our very essence if he pleases." Diana was lost in a conundrum, unsure whether she'd misunderstood Sheila or understood her perfectly and Sheila was the one lying. Was this really how Aiden wanted to punish her? By f*****g these women in front of her? Why should she care? Why was this even a punishment? She shouldn't care. It should be as though she were watching a pornstar and applauding him for his skills. Or perhaps it was because she'd claimed to be his Luna. It would be humiliating, especially if the women ended up stripping away whatever respect she'd thought she'd gained. Whichever way, she promised herself she wouldn't react. At the same time, she wanted it to happen out of curiosity. How did Aiden please his women? She'd been with one man, one time. A human male who'd been her boyfriend for a while before she discovered he was gay after they finally slept together. Yes, her s****l life was almost nonexistent. Especially after that experience, which had left her telling herself that the s*x had been so bad she'd turned a straight man gay. The women disappeared into their rooms, worsening her anxiety. Except that her anxiety only grew worse when the door creaked open again, slowly widening with a sound she instantly dreaded. His perfume hit her first. An intoxicating mixture of dark cedarwood, spicy bergamot, and warm amber, with a hint of smoky leather. It was masculine, rich, and dangerously addictive, encompassing the atmosphere like it had its own existence. It caused her belly to rumble wildly, as though an earthquake had erupted in her lower abdomen. Aiden. Even his presence commanded the entire ambience. It was as if he controlled every molecule that existed in his wake. The way he walked in. The couple of men who followed behind him, men he towered over. They all looked like Alphas, judging by how high they held their heads, trying to command the same aura as Aiden. Except they were lacking something. "Hmm. Nice place, man. I can't wait to see these women of yours. You said they're beautiful, huh...?" The Alpha beside Aiden spoke without a care, a smirk on his lips as he looked around. Then his eyes locked on Diana. There were three Alphas who had followed Aiden, and the one who'd spoken seemed more playful than the others, happy to tease Aiden. Except Aiden wasn't smiling. As a matter of fact, he'd invited them to tonight's party before he knew about the tragedy that had befallen his pack. "Who is she?" the Alpha asked, his eyes never leaving Diana. He could barely take his eyes off her. "Brad? She's not to be looked upon. Not to be touched. Not to be admired. My girls are coming," Aiden warned. There was nothing playful about his tone. Brad didn't seem to understand what Aiden meant. Or perhaps he'd simply decided not to take him seriously. "Oh, please. She's dressed in lingerie, bound to a chair. I mean, if she ain't the show, what is? Tell me, man, who is she...?" Diana waited for an answer from Aiden. For some reason, she truly wanted to know how he would introduce her to the others. His Luna? His enemy? A friend? Probably not his Luna, considering he was yet to introduce her publicly. An enemy, she bet on herself. "I said..." Brad interrupted him with a raised hand. "I heard what you said. But if you don't give me my answer, she's going to be my girl for the night. After all, you promised we could take any of your girls. That we were going to share equally." Yes, Aiden had. Except he hadn't imagined tying Diana to a chair, or that she would annoy him beyond his limit that evening. Aiden didn't want to show his irritable side to Brad. These three Alphas were his friends, especially Brad. He was one werewolf who wasn't from his pack that Aiden respected. He also hated Jackson, which instantly made him family. "My cousin. Long story. She's under punishment." He lied, not sure why he did. Except that he wanted to keep her potential identity a secret. Diana, on the other hand, was shocked to the bones. He wanted her to be his Luna so badly, yet he lied about her identity in public? Why? Was he ashamed of her? Perhaps because she'd been sold to him so cheaply by her father. She wasn't from a noble family. She wasn't his true mate either. Why did it pick at her heart? "Oh, great, then. For a second, I thought she was your secret Luna!" Brad laughed heartily, as did the other Alphas, while Aiden's face remained hard as he glared directly at Diana. She'd just made him lie. And he was not one to lie. Yet deep down, he knew he'd done it to protect her. He had too many enemies. Who knew what they'd do to her if they found out she might be his new interest or... Weakness. He shook the feeling off with a shudder, then clapped reluctantly, the sound feeling like an awkward way to call the women. Sure enough, they all came out ceremoniously. And to Diana's horror, they wore the same outfit as her. The same lingerie, color and design. Even the heels. Now she felt completely stupid. More than humiliated. The three Alphas started clapping in awe. "Amazing!" they commented, broad smiles on their faces and lust in their gazes. Diana wanted the ground to open up and swallow her whole, especially when Sheila intentionally walked past her and nudged her chair on her way to meet Aiden. "This is going to be a long night," Diana muttered painfully.
