Chapter 15

1169 Words
It had taken more than willpower to wear what Aiden had called an outfit. Yes, she was trying to be the obedient Luna—at least until she had a proper discussion with Elena and found a way out of here, hopefully catching Aiden completely off guard. But she was annoyed, so annoyed, she could barely contain herself. She wanted to complain, swear, and curse. She even told herself she'd rather eat with pigs than wear the lingerie and heels she'd found on the bed. Yet, after pacing around her room and cursing every living thing that had ever been in acquaintance to Aiden, she eventually put them on. When she finished dressing and doing her makeup, she headed to his bedroom and opened the door without knocking. Expecting to catch him off guard. Maybe even make him angry. Except he was with Vincent and two other Gammas, deep in a serious discussion. Their faces were hard, their expressions grim. Something was obviously wrong. It was in that moment she knew she'd walked in at the wrong time. But it was also the perfect time, considering how badly she wanted to piss him off. The obedient Luna she was trying to be had flown out the window unconsciously. "Hi, Aiden. I'm ready. Do I look fuckable now?" The words sounded high and stupid even to her own ears. Vincent gave her a subtle warning with his eyes. This is not the time. She acted like she didn't care. "Can you guys excuse me and my mate? We have business to handle..." she said playfully. She walked over to where Aiden sat, climbed onto his lap, and hugged his face against her breasts. It was a disgusting act even to herself, but she kept going. Aiden couldn't react. He was furious. Too furious to believe she couldn't read the room, especially when she was doing this in front of his men. Teasing him. Trying to make a fool of herself. Meanwhile, they were dealing with a life-threatening situation in their pack. Four Gammas were dead, killed by spies from his brother's pack—the same spies Vincent should have killed the moment they were caught. Now they were nowhere to be found either. They had escaped. Probably already back in their pack with information. Aiden felt like a terrible leader and wholly blamed Diana for his distraction. He'd been so obsessed with her existence that he'd overlooked a basic threat, allowing it to escalate into something he'd never thought possible. "Leave." The word was gritted out painfully. As much as he didn't want to entertain her shenanigans, the heat and scent coming from her body affected him in a way he was embarrassed to admit. Diana's head told her to obey him. Everything inside her screamed that he was in a terrible state and that she was only pushing her luck. She was playing a very dangerous game. "No. I need your attention. I want you." She taunted him before placing a lingering kiss on his lips. Everyone else in the room acted as though they were nonexistent, even Vincent. But deep down, he detested what Diana was doing. "Diana. Four Gammas just died. Don't be my victim." He didn't need to give her the details. He was counting on her emotions as someone who had lived in the human world for so long—and as a doctor, to behave herself.l Yes. It got to her. She even looked at Vincent to confirm what Aiden had said. From the frown on his face, she understood the gravity of the situation. She wanted to ask questions. How? When? Why? But if she did, she would spoil everything she was trying to create. "Oooops..." she said instead. "Too bad for them..." She was trying too hard to be annoying, and she hated herself for it. God, she wanted to help them if possible. Aiden wanted her to stop. He didn't want to hurt her, yet he understood what she was doing and why she was being so relentless. "You want attention?" His expression hardened. "Alright... I'll give you attention!" Without warning, he threw her onto the bed and straddled her. Diana expected some kind of punishment, so she closed her eyes, bracing herself for the impact. Instead, he grabbed her wrists and bound them together before she could fully understand what he was doing. "No, what are you do—?!" Before she could finish, he slapped duct tape over her mouth, causing her eyes to widen in horror. Where had the duct tape come from? She wandered for a second before trying to kick him off, wiggling and struggling wildly. Aiden pulled out half of the bedspread in one swift motion and tied her ankles tightly enough to make her whimper. She was now a captive. There was absolutely no reaction to her predicament from his men. Actually, they thought he was being merciful. "Back to business." Aiden dusted his hands together like he'd just finished a trivial task. "What were we saying...?" Diana's muffled protests disturbed him, but he completely ignored her. "Should we attack?" Vincent asked. "No. Not yet. We bury our men first. Then we strategize. Jackson shouldn't see us coming." Aiden's fist tightened. "We will bring down their pack for this." His breathing was tense, his jaw clenched. Diana wondered who this Jackson was and whether he was truly evil. Or maybe Aiden was the monster, and Jackson was simply retaliating. Yet, despite herself, she felt bad for Aiden. Four of his Gammas had died. That had to weigh heavily on his heart. She could see how shaken he was, and for a second, she felt sorry for him. "Oh, and sir, there's something you should see in the cell where they were. They left something..." Aiden's eyebrows knitted together in confusion. What did they leave? Was it a message from Jackson? Or had they simply forgotten something while fighting? He didn't want to know just yet. Half of him was actually scared to find out. "Keep it for tomorrow. Safely. I don't wish to deal with more issues tonight." Except for Diana. She was the current issue at hand. He might have thought tonight's party would be fun, a teasing game. Not anymore. Now he wanted to get Jackson off his mind while also letting Diana know that she wasn't so special, especially after what she'd just pulled. A few minutes later, he unbound her. He took her screams and insults like water splashed against a rock. It was almost refreshing, knowing she had no idea how heartbroken she would be after the party. Four of his Gammas had died. This was one good way to punish her for distracting him, even though, deep down, he was looking for a distraction. Anything to keep himself from admitting that he'd let these werewolves down. "Vincent?" He turned toward his Beta. "Take her to the cottage, and tell the girls that their Alpha is on the way."
