Chapter 30 - Tusker
Gathering their breath, sipping water, they examine their weapons, and the approach laid out before them. The key is to seize this main building. They prepare to make the final effort.
In a few minutes, they hear noises from the building’s other side; then shouting. Abha now waves Jatin and Ayed to lead them toward the wall. Jatin motions to the outline of the wall’s huge doorway. This must not have been opened in years! The mahout motions for the huge tusker to push. Ayed leans against the wooden span until it starts to splinter.
As the door smashes open, two fighters come barreling around the corner, shouting, spears waving. They lift their weapons to Ayed. Jatin cries out and runs to stand between them and his tusker. One throws: it takes Jatin high in the chest.
