Two hundred sheep lead villagers down the road. The herder and Winston keep them moving, with Sunil helping briskly.
Twenty men with swords, spears, and staffs follow Abha and Chizuko, with Pratima, William, Darlana and the others following behind. The massive elephant lumbers behind them all, Lomash and Jatin at her side. Abha falls back and stops next to Pratima.
“You have an important role,” Abha advises her with a hoarse voice. She nods without smiling. William notices that she scans the way ahead. Concentrating.
“They need to think there’s lots of your group. Make sure their focus is solely on you villagers,” he appeals. “They should pay attention only to your group.”
