I phoned Sebastian asking him to come to the office. I hastily had a warm bath and changed into one of my casual clothes. I had always hated to wear a suit whenever I had to go to the office. I was about to leave the room when suddenly the thought of Annabelle came to my mind. " I should not have thrown her out". I said, as I opened the door and sauntered downstairs.
Fred came forward, handing me the key to the car. "It was a Lamborghini today". I thought to myself after seeing the Lamborghini logo on the car key.
I walked out of the Mansion, followed by Ballista and Fred. It was a yellow Lamborghini, and normally I don't use the same car twice; it's either scrapped or sold to dealers.
As I got into the car, the gates automatically opened as I drove away, followed by Ballista and Fred in another car.
"I'm not sure when he'll stop meddling in my life." I yelled angrily at the top of my voice.
After a thirty-minute drive, I came to a halt in front of a 250-story structure. This is my Father's company, and I'm the CEO.
As I stepped out of the car, a valet approached me.
"Welcome, Mr. Max". He said as I handed over the car key to him which he drove away. I quickly made my way into the building, it seems the employees noticed my unusual casual clothes. They all beamed a smile on seeing me, I could have returned the smile but I have got lots of things going on in my head.
I made my way through the long hall towards the elevator. I, Ballista, and Fred got into the elevator and made our way to the 40th floor where my father's office was located. During the elevator ride, nobody said a word, it was just a quiet and boring moment for me. I hate using Elevators because I hate being in a tight space.
As the elevator doors open, it chimps. We exited and proceeded to my Father's office.
"Does Mr. Williams have any availability?" Ballista questioned the secretary in a deep and loud voice; one could see the fear in the secretary's eyes as she stood up quickly; she was dressed in a red suit with a matching white skirt.
She became terrified when she saw me with my bodyguards, and Ballista's voice scared the daylights out of her.
"Good morning, Mr. Max," she trembled.
"Mr. Williams, I need to see him right away." I said it calmly, probably to relieve the tension.
"Yeah, he's right inside his office." She mumbled.
I gestured to Sebastian and Fred to wait outside while I went inside to see my father. I flung open the door without knocking.
"Did you forget your manners?" My father teased me.
His office was tastefully decorated in the S class style. He sat on a chair, his legs crossed on the table, and sipped from the bottle of whisky in front of him. I couldn't help but wait for him to finish resetting the whisky bottle on the table.
"Father, what have you been up to lately...?"
"Ssshhh". He attempted to persuade me to stop and listen to him. "Everything I do is for you, son. Take a look at yourself; you seem to have everything but nothing. I'm attempting to help both myself and you. Look at my hair, it's turning gray ".. He asserted, touching his hair but not taking his gaze away from the bottle of whiskey on the table.
"Rather than having her sneak into my bedroom, you could have just made it more formal." "I said, a little irritably.
"Don't you dare shout at me," he protested, looking me in the eyes. "We both know you would have declined my offer if I had made it formal." He went on.
He stood up and staggered towards me. "He's drunk," I reasoned.
"Please accept my offer, son. Make me the happiest grandfather on the planet by marrying Annabelle ".. In a pitiful voice, he mumbled.
My father was completely clear to me. A 30-year-old man is supposed to be married with children running around his house. I felt sorry for my Father because I knew he desperately wanted a grandchild. But I'm not going to give in to what he wants; the dreams I had about Annabelle turning into a Monster had made me reconsider her.
_______
"You could be more with Annabelle". He said dipping his hands into his suit pocket. He brought out a card and thrust his hand forward towards me. I collected the card, it was Annabelle's business card.
"She had a business card?". I thought to myself as I went through the card. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that Annabelle was the CEO of Della buildings. I switched my gaze at my father, his face shows that he was expecting such a reaction from me. Della buildings had always been the talk of the whole city, their services had been unmatched by other companies in the last few years.
"Dad, tell me this is not true!". I said looking at him.
"Son, don't be surprised. I only require one thing from you ".. He stated while he was walking in circles.
"What is it that you really want?" I inquired.
"Go after your lady!" He said this with vigour.
I couldn't hide my feelings any longer; I'd loved Annabelle since the first time I laid eyes on her. She had messed with my emotions to the point where I couldn't stop thinking about her. In my dreams, she could have turned into a monster, but the fact that she's a CEO and a supposed multi-millionaire dispelled my fears.
"I felt guilty; I couldn't help but feel bad about evicting her from the Mansion." I let out a sigh and stood up to face my father.
"Son, there's always a second chance. I want you to stand up now and go after your woman". He asserted.
I quickly turned and headed towards the door, I flung the door open walking out of the building as fast as I could. Ballista and Fred were also behind me walking as fast as they could, thinking they could match up with my speed.
I got out of the building, waiting for the valet to bring back my car but it was taking too long. I quickly boarded a Taxi and headed for Della buildings. You should have seen the surprised faces of Ballista and Fred when I boarded a taxi.
Twenty minutes later, I arrived at the Della buildings, which could be estimated to be 200 storeys tall. I jumped out of the taxi as quickly as I could. I reached into my pocket and handed the driver a wad of cash that I didn't even bother counting.
I approached the two security guards who were stationed in front of the building.
"Welcome to the Della buildings; may I please see your identification?" One of the security guards inquired.
"I'm sorry, but I don't have an identification card. However, I am a friend of the CEO ".. With high hopes, I said.
"If you were here for a meeting, please accept my apologies. You should have scheduled an appointment first ".. The other security guard added, disgustedly looking at me. I despised being looked at in this way; if he had known my net worth, or if Ballista and Fred had been here with me, I could have ordered them to beat the daylights out of him.
I don't know what to do as I became dumb, then I remember a word from my dad "Go after your woman". A crazy idea came to my mind, "it's the only way I could get through these security men". I thought.
**RUN**. At nearly the speed of light. I outpaced the security guards, who chased after me as fast as they could.
I walked around a corner and into an elevator; I didn't need directions because everyone knew that the CEO's office was on the top floor of every building.
The elevator chimps, I exited the elevator on the top floor to find dozens of security guards standing directly in front of me. There's nowhere else to go but to plead.
They didn't listen to my explanations about wanting to see Annabelle as they dragged me down the stairs like a criminal. It later occurred to me that perhaps Annabelle and I were not meant to be together.
It was a long walk using the stairs instead of the elevator; I know Ballista and Fred would not have allowed this to happen if they were here with me; they were even willing to give up their lives for mine. The security guards threw me out of the building and threatened to shoot me if I tried to enter again.
All hopes were dashed. I reached into my trouser's left pocket and pulled out Annabelle's business card.
A white Mercedes Benz abruptly came to a halt in front of me. Ballista, Fred, and Sebastian got out of the car. "Now I have a team," I thought, a smile on my face.
