Brianna’s P.O.V.
I dropped Ashley off at her house, and made the 25 minute drive back to my house. We both lived in the same town, but she lived in an apartment and I lived in a development neighborhood. Everyone knows about my house, it's the one at the top of the hill, overlooking the whole north side of the city. It’s really peaceful here. My dad, Tim, is an electrical engineer, and invented lots of the latest inventions. My mom, Shelly, was a stay at home mom, and took care of both me and my brother Jonathon. She died last year due to cancer, and she was the best I could ask for. His new wife Carly is a b***h. She has only acted nice around me only whenever dad was around. I wish that dad could see this side of her, but she hasn’t slipped up yet, and I’ve never recorded her doing anything to me. Jonathan is two years older than me, and he goes to college in the cities. He decided to stay an extra day to say bye to me before he went down to the campus. When I pulled into the garage, I could hear his silly laugh from the mudroom, and I couldn’t help laughing myself.
“Hey Miss Popular, you ready for your senior year?” Jonathan laughed.
“Yeah! Are you ready for me to whoop your ass at it too?” I said in a serious tone, while trying not to laugh.
“I can tell you are trying not to laugh, your face is bright red!” He exclaimed as he fell on the ground.
“NO I’M NOT!” I could feel my face burning up and turned away from him.
“It’s okay Bri, I just wanted to make you laugh a little before I drove to the campus.” He was serious now. “You know it makes me sad to leave you and dad when I go down there.” He was kind of seeming sad now.
“Don’t cry. I’ll send you letters every day I can, you know that.” I said
“I know.” He sighed. “Well, I’ve got to go, I’ll see you later little sis.” He said
“Bye.” I said, crying.
I saw him get into his car, and pull out of the driveway, and he was on his way. After a little tearing up, I dried off my eyes, and walked into the kitchen to see my dad making some afternoon snacks with Carly.
“Hey sweetie, how are you? Did you have a nice trip at the mall with Ashley?” dad asked me.
“I’m doing well. I’m sad to see Jonathon go, but I got to say bye to him. Ashley and I had a great time, we didn’t get much though, because so many people were there.” I said.
“Well, that’s great to hear. Maybe, we can go later when there aren’t so many people there. I’m going to go to my office to work on my latest invention. See you for dinner.” dad said.
“See you then dad” I said
“See you then sweetie” Carly said. We both hugged dad, and then he walked downstairs to his office.
“I’m not gonna say I told you anything you ungrateful slut, but I did say there would be lots of people there” Carly snarked. She was making that evil smirk she always makes.
“Hi Carly, how’s the b***h doing today. Cold as usual, you are gold digging piece of w*********h, you know that.” I said, kind of proud of myself.
“Well, isn’t that sweet. You’re lucky that I love your dad’s money, otherwise I’d beat you to a senseless piece of garbage.” She said slyly.
I just ran away crying to my room. My real mother wouldn’t do that to me, and she truly loved dad, I’ve never seen true love like that in anyone else. After about 20 minutes of crying I fell asleep, and I must say it was the best sleep I’ve had in awhile. I woke up, and looked at my phone. It was 11:53PM, great. I slept for 9 hours, and I missed dinner with dad. That made me so upset with her. I looked at my phone, and there were 3 text messages.
One from dad that read “Sorry you are upset, you seemed really fine when you got home. It must be Jonny leaving. It’s okay. I’ll see you in the morning, love you sweetie. xoxo - Dad” He was always a sweet man, took care of the people in his life, and I sobbed to myself when I read that message.
The next was from Ashley “Hey Bri, thanks for bringing me to the mall today we’ll have to go when it isn’t too busy and get those clothes for those boys ;) See you soon” Typical message from Ashley, I still loved getting messages from her.
The third one was from an unknown number and it read “Hi Brianna, I really like you, and I hate to see you sad. This world could use more people like you.” Now, I don’t typically reply to messages this late at night, but this one seemed sincere, and I kinda liked the uplifting spirits it gave me. I gave a quick reply “Thank you really much, I appreciate it. I don’t know who you are, so maybe if you told me who you were, I’d like to meet you and maybe be friends for now. Goodnight.” I sent that message, took a quick shower, and I went back to bed. I’m hoping that the day will be better tomorrow
