Kelly had stayed indoors for the whole day, refusing to go outside and show the world what her husband had done to her the previous afternoon.
She phoned her work that morning and made an excuse about feeling poorly, which she suspected that, her boss only part-believed.
Other than being beaten to a pulp, the rest of her Sunday panned out exactly as her friend Carol had surmised. Jack returned from the pub half-cut, demanding his lunch, which Kelly had prepared for him in spite of what he had done to her earlier.
Once he had eaten, Jack fell asleep on the couch watching football, whilst Kelly cleaned up the flat. When he woke up at about 5pm, it was off back down the pub for the rest of the night, leaving Kelly at home, alone.
For once, Kelly did not mind being abandoned.
