Upon arrival back at the station Pamela went straight in to see Carlisle to update him on Natasha’s condition. Hardy made his way into the main office to check on the update from the search of the area where Natasha had been found.
He was hoping that Sergeant Russell might have returned by now, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Hardy checked in with a couple of the plain clothes officers who were busy chasing up leads—slim as they were—as a result of the initial house-to-house enquiries.
As Hardy looked up a ruddy-faced Constable Grant entered the room. Hardy signalled to her to come over before he turned away and walked towards his desk.
