Heaven’s Triangle

Heaven’s triangle? It sounds familiar to Garie. She feels like she heard or read it somewhere, she just can’t seem to remember. “I feel like I have heard or read about it. I just can’t seem to remember.” She said. “You might have heard it during one of our summer vacations when we are still kids. Our grandfathers love telling us stories, remember.” James told her and Garie looked at James. “Oh yeah, can you tell me more about it?” She asked. “Heaven’s triangle is a set of three items that bring a big change in the world. Each item has an ability to cause that change; whether it is good or bad.” James told her. Garie pursed her lips and tried to remember where she heard the name Heaven’s Triangle but she is still lost. Then she looked at James. “What are those items?” “The first one is the Lost Artifact, which is the Jade Mask; the one that your family and the Seekers are looking for for a long time. This item was said that it can cure any illness and give strength to the bearer. The second item is what they called the Sapphire Heart; it has been said that whoever is in possession of the stone may have a change of heart or have control over someone.” James explained. “Wow, pretty interesting. How about the other one?” She asked. “The third item is what they called the Golden Cup. It’s a small golden goblet that was believed to grant immortality to those who drank from it.” He answered. Hearing James explains about the items made Garie realize how dangerous they are. “No wonder my uncle and Seekers are adamant about getting those items. They are quite dangerous if they fell in the wrong hands.” She said. “Yes, but it’s not just that Garie,” James said and Garie looked at him. “What do you mean?” “My grandfather told me that once all three items are gathered together and performed a certain ritual, it forms the true Heaven’s Triangle. My grandfather said it can open a doorway to the world beyond. And whatever is beyond that door, no one knows or lived to tell the tale.” James answered and Garie felt chills run down her spine. “Bloody hell.” She blurted and James nodded. “Indeed. That’s why your Uncle and my grandfather pushed through that expedition, to find the artifact.” He said. “By the way, I’ll be going back to Kensington tomorrow morning. I hope you are ready for your new medical environment.” She told him. “It’s all the same for me, but I hope I can get along with everyone.” Then Garie looked at him from head to toe and smirked. “I’m pretty sure you will.” She said and then she walked out of the kitchen with the sandwich she was eating. ****************************. The next day, true to what Garie said; she set out to go back to Kensington. James and Feng Hu woke up really early for it and at that moment they are hauling their stuff into the back of Garie’s vehicle. And before Garie could climb into the driver’s seat, their butler Benjamin approached her with a picnic basket. “Uhm, Benjamin we are not going on a picnic.” She said. “I know that miss. But Master Michael asked me to pack you some cooked dishes so you won’t have to cook when you get to your apartment.” Benjamin said. “Oh, that’s thoughtful of him considering he dumped these boys in my flat,” Garie grumbled. “I heard that,” James said as he climbed in, sitting shotgun. “You are meant to.” Garie hissed. James made faces through the window glass that made Garie roll her eyes, and then Benjamin hands the basket to Feng Hu who placed the basket inside the vehicle, before climbing in. “Take care, miss,” Benjamin said. “You too,” Garie said, patting Benjamin’s shoulder before climbing inside the car. She buckled up and turned on the engine; she looked toward James before she stepped on the gas and drove away. The three of them remained quiet at the beginning of the ride. James was reading a book while Feng Hu was sleeping. Garie on the other hand has her mind occupied by the thoughts of the Heaven’s Triangle. She was raking her brain for more information about it because she is now dead positive that her grandfather mentioned it to her before. “You know you should focus on the road.” Garie was pulled out of her thought when she heard James. “I am focused on the road.” She said. James put down the book he was reading and turned towards Garie. “You were in deep thought. You started to slow down that even a cow outrun us.” He said, and that is when Garie noticed that they indeed slowed down. Garie stepped on the gas and drove faster. “Is that fast enough for you Master Zhang?” Garie asked, rolling her eyes. James smirked. “I know you can drive faster than that since you are into racing now.” He said and Garie gave him a quick glance. “Are you a stalker now?” She asked. “More like an admirer.” He answered. Hearing his answer made Garie step on the brakes, stopping the vehicle. Then she turned toward James with a deadpan look. “What did you just say?” She asked. James tilted his head and smiled. “I said I am an admirer, not a stalker.” He said and then he picks up his book that fell off his lap because of the car’s sudden stop. Then James noticed that Garie is still looking at him. He frowned and gave her a look. “Did you really think I teased you when we were kids just because I am mean?” He asked and it was Garie’s turn to frown. “What else could be the reason?” She asked and James scoffed. “I only did that to gain your attention because I like you.” He blurted and Garie gaped at him. James sighed and run his fingers through his hair. “I didn’t plan to confess to you like this. Gāisĭ de(***). Can you just drive while I still have a bit of dignity left?” James said, looking away as his face was all red. Garie also looked ahead; still stunned by what he said she drove away. The drive was filled with silence once again. That went on for an hour until they reached their destination which is Garie’s apartment in Kensington. After they brought their bags out of the vehicle, Garie led them inside the building, into her unit. When Garie opened the door of her flat, she went in, followed by James and Feng Hu. “My room is at the end of the hallway. I have two spare rooms that you can use. One is right by the kitchen and one is the first door in the hallway. The door across it is the toilet and bath. You two can use that.” Garie told them. “I’d let you two unpack and after lunch, we can visit the hospital.” She added and then she brought her bag into her room. James just watches her get into her room and sighs, as he internally kicks himself because of what he said earlier. Then he walked towards the first door in the hallway while Feng Hu chose the room next to the kitchen.
