Ninth Chapter

Eveline's POV I couldn't take this anymore. My cheeks burned from tears. And the wind was colder than ever.  Forest was dark and quiet. There were no animals or any sounds of nature. It's like everything stopped for a moment...The only sound in the forest was my sobbing.  Right now, I am sitting in my favourite place...There was a small plain side deep in the trees with green grass all around.  I was hugging my knees and my face was buried in them. I couldn't stop crying, maybe because I held everything inside for too long...? I sat there crying until a voice from behind called out. "Eveline..." A deep voice called. First I thought I am going insane or hallucinating, but a voice called for me once again but more sternly.  "Eveline!" I turned my head to see who was there, I couldn't see properly through my tears but I was hundred percent sure that it was a woman...very old woman, maybe in her late fifties. "Ha! Great, now I am going insane." I said, palming my face. "Hmhm, no dear, you are not going insane," the woman said chuckling while checking me by walking around me. "What the..." I wanted to curse but she stopped me. "No! Dear, a lady shouldn't curse" she pointed her finger at me while narrowing her eyes. WHAT THE HECK?!  "Wh-who are y-you?" I asked wiping my tears with both of my hands. "Eveline, please, call me Rosie" she smiled genuinely, and it was so heartwarming to see her smiling. I don't why. "Rosie..." I breathed out and then stood up furiously asking, "Wait! How do you know my name?"  She chuckled and took a piece of my hair with two of her fingers. "Lovely..." She whispered biting her lip and taking a step back.  "What?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows. She blinked twice like she remembered something and then answered, "Nothing my dear. Oh, I know you so well...I saw you at the Academy." She smiled tilting her head to the side. Wait, she reminds me of...Yes! Exactly! I saw her sitting near Alexander on my first day at dinner. "Oh! I remember you! You sat on the table with his highness" Yeah, I said 'his highness' for showing my respect, maybe she is Alexander's umm...mother? Or grandma? whatever. She chuckled again! What makes her laugh?? What I am saying so funny?? "Excuse me? What?" I asked glaring at her. "Ooh, you have a courageous attitude, that's good, you will need it at the right time." She smiled and I felt bad for showing this behaviour...shit. "Madame, who are you? And how you found me?" I asked her.  She sat elegantly on the grass and tapped a place near her telling me to sit. I did what she asked  "Dear, I am a good friend of Alexander... let's say like this. I live in the castle and saw you running away into the dark forest and here I am." She tilted her head back showing her snow-white teeth. "Oh, you shouldn't have come after me...I am a mess" I said lowering my head. She widened her eyes and took me by my chin pulling it towards her, "Who are you, Eveline Campbell?" She glared at me and I couldn't take her burning look on me. "I..ah..I..do...don't" I stuttered, gulping. She narrowed her eyes and made lips into a thin line, I looked at her with widened eyes, she took away her hand placing it behind her back. "Maybe you don't know who you are, but it doesn't mean that you are a mess," she said seriously. "How do you know?" I asked looking at my lap. "I know more than you think Eveline." she smiled. Oh god, I am so confused. "what do you mean?" I asked dumbfoundedly. "Ah dear, you think an old woman doesn't know what's happening in the castle?" she laughed looking at me with mysterious eyes.  "Uh...n-no"  "good, because I know everything that happens in this damn castle" she laughed and her cursing was priceless. I laughed at her pointing at her mouth "You cursed! Lady shouldn't curse" I imitate her.  She chuckled and then said, "Sometimes we break the rules," she smiled looking deep in the trees and inhaling fresh air. I smiled looking at her and then realized how she made me a little bit happy and carefree. It's been ten minutes and in these ten minutes, this old lady made me happy...But she didn't even put any effort into raising my mood.  "Thank you." I breathed out looking into her green eyes.  "For what?" she smiled. I bit my lower lip and said "For running after me and being here with me. You know not every person would run after some crying girl"  "you are welcome my dear" she nodded and then continued "So, do you have a plan in saving Alexander?" she raised her left eyebrow at me. How the hell she knows about Alexander?  "Uhm...How do you?"  "Oh please dear, I told you already"  "Yeah, right...well, I don't have any freaking idea" I gave her a sad smile. "How so? You are a very clever girl and I can feel that you have a powerful soul...Soul of a leader" she looked at me with respect. Well, I am glad she thinks this way because I am not.  I laughed, "me? Leader? Powerful?" "Eveline, you better listen to an old woman, I know what I am talking about"  "No, I don't think so" I made an awkward face taking my eyes away. She huffed looking at me shooking her head, "You are like me. I didn't listen to anyone, huh, I remember the days I rejected everyone...But everything has consequences. Dear, don't do my mistakes, you better listen to me, Eveline" she looked at me with pleading eyes. I looked in her beautiful eyes and couldn't resist. "Alright...I heard you."  "See, you are clever girl" she smiled at me. God, please have mercy on me! Argh! "Okay, if you are saying that I should listen to you. Tell me what should I do?"  "First of all, go back to the castle, Zachary needs you...and Alexander," she said standing up. "No" I simply said. "Eveline..." She wanted to say something but I interrupted her and continued. "No! I can't do this! I am not that powerful! I can make everything worse! I don't want it!" I shouted. "dear, listen to me" she took me by the shoulders and said looking into my eyes.  "Do not underestimate yourself! you are stronger than you think, I can feel your aura. If you are not gonna do this, Alexander will die" she said sternly.  I exhaled hardly and then answered, "Mirena is too powerful...I am scared...A powerful soul can't be scared but I am!" I said feeling my tears rolling in my eyes. "To be scared is okay, even the dragon Kings can be scared sometimes but it doesn't mean that you shouldn't do anything. Because of the fear we keep going and because of the fear we keep fighting" she said gratefully. I nodded chuckling, "Again you are saving me" I smiled. She smiled and then hugged me, "It is my job to direct you, my lovely Eveline." she hugged me so tide like it was our last time seeing each other. "Be strong...for me and...for your parents" she whispered last words and took a step back.  "About which parents you are talking about?" I breathed out. "You will have so many secrets to find out, keep fighting, and never give up...I believe in you." she started to walk away but before entering the forest she turned back to me. "Oh and kick that Merina's ass" she smiled last time and walked away hiding deep in the trees. Alright. Let's visit Zachary with damn good news. Eveline is back in the game. Hey guys!
