This Is Not Good

I checked my phone for the millionth time, still ten messages undelivered and two bounced calls. He should be here by now. He wasn't standing me up right? Get this picture in your head. I was standing by the aquarium in La Chateaú way underdressed, all by myself and the hostess kept side eyeing me. I had driven an hour to get here and I was starving; I'm positive all the other people waiting to be seated could hear my stomach rumbling. Evander said he got a reservation so technically I didn't have to wait in line. If only he would get here! Just when I was about to call him again the glass revolving door spun open and a guy all by himself walked through. My first thought was dang Ethel you didn't mention his looks, because he really was a heartthrob. He was wearing a red button up with a leather jacket, dark jeans and boots. His thick brown curls peaked out from under his red leather cowboy hat and he was at least a foot taller than every person in the room but he wasn't the gangly tall he had broad shoulders and large biceps. But the best part was he walking straight at me. He bridged the gap between us and my heart was beating a million miles an hour. “Can you hold this?” He murmured, placing the cowboy hat on my head. “I uhh hat yours ya,” I stuttered. He smiled revealing a row of perfect white teeth. “Great.” Then he, in all his perfectness, walked away. I stared after him through the brim of my new hat in shock. But… I didn't have time to be shocked for long. The door slammed shut and another guy all by himself walked in. He was shorter than the other one but more muscular and had a tattoo of a skull on his forearm. He was wearing a tight black t-shirt that showed off his abs, a brown jacket, ripped blue jeans, and white sneakers. Was this Evander? I really should have asked him to send a picture. He marched straight towards me, grabbed my arm and guided me past the line. I ripped my arm free and followed him awkwardly to a quiet booth in the corner by the water fountain. He didn't pull out my chair. He didn't apologize for being late. In fact he didn't talk at all. So get this picture in your head; Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley was playing softly in the background, the Crystal chandelier was twinkling elegantly and the brightly colored beta fish were floating calmly in the floor to ceiling aquariums. I was still wearing the cowboy hat but I was mostly using it to hide from my so-called date. The stone I was sitting with was hunched over his menu scowling. Inwardly I cursed Ethel for sending me this fate. After about ten minutes of this he straightened up and stared straight at me with his cloudy blue eyes. “I was under the impression you would be a man.” I didn't know whether to be offended, mad , laugh or slap him. I chose the laughing route and reached for my phone thinking of a way to get out of this without seeming rude. Then again there was always the rude way. He leaned closer and I leaned away “enough small talk, I want what I came here for” he whispered. That time I slapped him. “Owwww!” I clutched my hand. He had a jaw of steel. With steam coming out of his ears he deathgriped my wrist, pulled my ear right up to his mouth and hissed . “I want the pearls Ace!” Just then my phone rang and Unstoppable by Sia started blasting into the quiet restaurant. Everyone looked our way and Evander set me back down and returned to hunching over the menu as I answered the phone. “Hello?” “Hi, is this Reyna?” “Yes this is.” “It's Evander, I'm so sorry I lost track of time. Can we maybe reschedule?” “I'll call you back.” “Ok.” If Evander was on the phone then who was I with?
