Blind Date
What are you doing for Valentine's Day?” I shrugged, “Honestly I was planni
ng on eating a whole box of chocolates and watching an awful romance in my pj's.”
My sister slapped her forehead.
“You're 20 and hot Reyna, It's your prime! you should be out doing something.”
“With who?”
She sat up and clapped her hands.
“I can set you up!”
I shook my head like a crazy person.
“No, no, no, no, no NO.”
She stuck out her bottom lip and moaned,
“Why?”
I turned to face her and began my tale.
Three days ago I was working at Town hall, the only theater in our tiny town. I am an actress but when you live where I do acting opportunities are few and far between so I teach acting classes and work at the restaurant attached to the theater. I served another plate to another person I knew. When you live in a small town you know everyone.
Ethel, my boss, maneuvered around me and patted my hand.
“Take a break hon, you look exhausted.”
I smiled and plopped down into the chair we had in the kitchen.
“Thanks.”
Ethel placed her hand on the door handle then changed her mind and walked back over to where I was seated.
“You need to meet my grandson, he's very single.”
I smiled politely.
“Nice.”
She nodded,
“He is nice.”
After an awkward moment of silence Ethel continued.
“He's rich too, I can set you up!”
I shrugged, “Okay.”
What was the worst that could happen?
