CHAPTER 2- HIS PURE HEART

SEOUL HIGH SCHOOL

LUNCH TIME

"This is the PHE room and the boys changing closet is at the left" Sera said pointing at the direction before closing the door.

"Why are you still frowning?" James asked staring at her.

"I'm not" Sera snapped angrily without looking at him.

"No,you are" He stated.

"Is it because I finished solving the question before you?" He inquired

This time around, Sera stared at him angrily and pouting.

"I'm not angry, can't you accept that? And why the heck should I be angry when you're not up to my league?" She yelled. This time around,her face was red.

James couldn't help but chuckled seeing her red face.

"You look like my Pomeranian when angry,so cute" He teased.

"You're literally saying that I am a dog " Sera couldn't help but get more infuriated.

"James or whatever you are called,I don't care about who the heck you are but you can never beat me. I am the top student and I will always remain that way,so try me if you can" Sera stated and started walking away.

"Let's be friends " James yelled for her to hear.

Sera stopped at her tracks and looked at him.

He is the only one that wants to befriend her since 7 years of her life.

"Never" She yelled back.

"Continue looking around the school by yourself" She said and walked away.

"She's so cute when angry" James said and ruffled his hair.

DOSAN MAIN ROAD,ALLEY 45

Kim Sera entered the house after returning from the library, it was already 9pm and she met her father preparing dinner.

"Welcome back darling " Her father,Mr.Kim smiled.

"Thanks dad" She said as she got herself a cup of water.

Her father is a well know police officer in the Gangnam district and he is her only parent for 7 years now.

"How was school?" He asked as he was cooking.

Sera immediately remembered James smiling face and she made a disgusted facial expression.

Her father noticed it immediately.

"Did something happen?" He asked turning off the gas and facing her.

"No, just a new student that's annoying " She replied.

"I will go change up and come down for dinner " She said and ran upstairs to her room.

She knew that is she stayed there for anymore second, her father will interrogate her.

Few minutes later, she went downstairs and sat opposite her father at the dining table.

"Eat to your fullest" Her dad said as he placed a piece of meat on her rice.

"Thanks dad, but I am no longer a child so the is no need for that" She said eating.

"Your still my baby girl, I can still remember the first day you smiled at me" Her dad stated recalling past memories.

"You called me "appa" before your mom" Her dad smiled.

However, he came back to reality as he saw his daughter's blank expression. It has been 7 years now since his wife died and his daughter blames herself for it.

"Dad, I want to go out for some fresh air" Sera said as she stood up and left the house.

"When will she realize that it was not her fault?" Mr. Kim muttered sadly staring at the disappearing figure of his daughter.

Kim Sera walked out of the house and started strolling around her neighborhood.

She can still remember that day clearly.

FLASHBACK

Twelve years old Sera kept on urging her mom to follow her to the amusement park.

But her mom was very busy and didn't want to accompany her, so she threw a tantrum and eventually her mother agreed to follow her.

She was so happy as she was chatting with her mother inside the taxi,the main reason she wanted her mom to accompany her was because she had a surprise for her mother.

However,she didn't expect what happened next to occur.

They taxi that they were inside exploded and that was the last time she saw her mother.

When she woke up in the hospital from the coma she fell into, she heard that her mom and the driver died. The reason the taxi exploded was because someone was targeting the driver and unfortunately, her mom and her were inside the taxi.

END OF FLASHBACK

"If I hadn't thrown that tantrum,mom will still be here" Kim Sera said to herself as tears streamed down from her eyes , she removed her glasses and wiped off the tears.

"No Sera, you shouldn't be crying. You must have grown past that stage now. No more crying but fighting, let's accomplish your dreams firstly" Sera motivated herself.

She kept on blaming herself for her mom's death,if only... She didn't want to surprise her mom that day.

Since that day, she withdrew herself from the social world, no friends but just her, herself and her books.

As she continued strolling, she spoted a familiar figure helping an old woman with her heavy bags.

"Isn't that James?" She asked herself staring at the figure.

"Didn't know that he had a good personality" She said as she as stared at him.

James on his way back from the Cafe Library saw an old woman struggling to carry her bags.

"Granny,let me help" James said smiling as he collected her bags.

"Thanks my son, God bless you" Granny said.

"I didn't know that there are still good people in this world, my grandchildren don't even assist me anymore" Granny lamented.

"Don't worry, as long as I am knowing your house today, I will make sure to check on you everyday" James promised smiling.

"No need,my son. You should be preparing for your exams and not minding this old woman" Granny said

"Why? But your so beautiful that I can't ignore you" James stated smiling

"Stop teasing me" Granny smiled and both of them laughed.

James looked up and saw Sera from the opposite direction as she was staring at them.

"Oh,hi my Pomeranian" James smiled waving at her.

"Stop calling me that" Sera yelled and ran away.

"Your girlfriend?" Granny asked him.

"No, just a classmate that's cute, she looks like my dog" James chuckled as he saw her running figure.

Kim Sera turned back, and for a second,the streets were as quiet as a graveyard. As if no one was there. Only HER.
