Bella had been smug about keeping me out of the plans. “I want it to be a surprise,” she’d said, tapping her phone like she was orchestrating a covert mission instead of managing a resort vacation.
I rolled my eyes, but she didn’t care. “Two days left at the resort,” she reminded me, voice sharp, almost commanding. “I want you two actually to get together before we leave. That’s the goal.”
