ROLAND Bella chose the absolute worst possible moment to say it. I had just walked into the kitchen, half awake, running a hand through my hair while searching for coffee, when she dropped the sentence like a grenade between us. “Alex is taking Lily out tonight,” she said casually, leaning against the counter while scrolling through her phone.
