Chapter Eighteen Coy As usual, I went to the park in town where Lila and I would meet each morning at six—so we could watch the sunrise together. Only she wasn’t there. I went back just after dark, too, for our usual second meeting of the day. Again, she wasn’t there. I waited for her until midnight, but she still never showed up. The next day was the same. That’s when I really started to worry. The day after was supposed to be our wedding day. I knew I had to do something to find out where she was and what the hell was going on.
