The hopefuls

'Generation Z' those born during 1990s to early 2000's. ——— In the year 2008 a war broke out, the war was known as the apocalypse. It was a catastrophic event which led to many lives been taken. One thing you wouldn't have guessed is that the war was against children.  Well these children weren't the normal type of kids, but those who happened to have be born after the year 1995 carried a gene. This gene they carried allowed them to manipulate, control things and do anything their mind would think. It also happened to give them black blood. The gene was called the Zd gene, named after the generation these children were born into 'Generation z'. The gene was due to evolution, they simply gained strengths because their environment had changed. The world has drastically been damaged because those generations before you never looked after the world, leaving the next generations to deal with the consequences of their actions. The seas are now full of plastic and the world was over populated.  The children biologically adapted to the new world and it's conditions, their brains were able to access more knowledge then those before them and their body was able to changed to fit the environment. Scientists believed that the over toxic and radioactive environment their parents were exposed to caused the children's brains structure to 're-organise' it self.  This left the children with strengths and abilities others didn't have nor even imagine having. People were scared they started to hurt these children, beating and killing them. These threats against the children of Generation Z caused their powers to 'awaken' meaning if they felt threatened or scared their powers would 'switch on' this will take over their body and they wouldn't be able to control themselves. The problem was is that the younger the child was the more dangerous they were, that is like giving a toddler a button that has nuclear bombs attached to the other side of it. But lucky not all Generation Z children were effected by the gene all though they would still carry it, so if they did feel threatened their powers would still awaken and they would no longer being able to 'turn it off'. The governments then came together from all other the world to decide an idea for what to do with these children. They believed that because they were no longer seen as 'human' but instead as something else they no longer had the same rights. Those who's parents had riches and fame were allowed to be free, but those who were unlucky didn't. They built thousands of 'Institutes' and let me get it clear with you, these were not what people thought they was. They were prisons or what some may call s*******r houses. These prisons locked these unique children up and without anyone knowing they would carry 'test' on these children.  They would be tortured till their abilities awakened, then harvesting their powers and killing them. They soon found that they could be very useful for medication by using their blood and bones, this meant a certain death. The parents of these children were devastated if their child had been born after 1995 then they had to be further 'tested' and put in 'quarantine'. The government found that nearly every child had the abilities and if they didn't, well they were still killed because the series of test that they would conduct on them would kill them.  Like most parents do they risked their life to keep their child safe, hiding them but eventually their parents were discovered to be lying and was executed for not handing them to the council. The children then retaliated, they were mad and out for vengeance so they attacked and killed everyone. This was the beginning of the apocalypse, the war that would kill millions, it was the biggest war in history.  The children of generation z were announced to have been all killed or captured and taken to the institutes, but some of the children survived years in hiding without being sent to the prisons. The year is now 2020 and the war was officially declared over in 2018, the world was told that every child born in generation z had been killed they said the gene was now extinct, they created vaccinations that would keep people 'pure'. However, they lied. There was still many children still alive. The children began to age and eventually becoming adults themselves, they were better at controlling their abilities and learnt how to use them. The war had not stopped for the Gen Z children, they wanted rights, fairness and payback for what the government had done.  This is a story about one girl who people feared her name if mentioned. She was known to be so dangerous people begged for their lives in her presents. She is out to find the truth about who she is and what happened to her.
