Chapter four: The six of us

A loud bang wakes me up, I jump up startled at the loud noise. I look around seeing everyone laughing. Aidan was laid on the floor, he had fell from the hay stacks. I start laughing with them as I go help him up.

"Well since everyone's now awake we need to walk further" Jax says to everyone. 

"Yeh guys we need to get moving, we don't want the guards to come get us and take us back" I added on to what jax was saying.

We all stand up to leave, with some of us going to toilet behind a bush, which wasn't very comfortable. We eventually leave following who ever was in front. 

About two hours went by of just us having small conversations, until Hal asked what our abilities are. 

"Oo oo mines fire" Hunter says, well I've seen that one. 

"I'll show you" he says preparing himself.

"Wooowww no Hunter, you'll set the whole forest on fire. Don't do it here" I say before he does anything.

"Mmmm okay .." he groans.

"Well what's yours Autumn" Hunter ask looking at her with curiosity.

"You can control nature?" Hunter looks up at her asking with his eyes for a further explanation.

"Oh well, I can control the animals, plants and all the elements even fire"she says as she looks at Hunter rubbing it in his face that he's not the only one that can do that.

With that a small little blue bird sits on her shoulder.

"I told him to do that" she had so much joy and happiness, her ability was truly beautiful.

"Well mine is air, I can fly. I also have super speed" Jax buts in ruining the moment he immediately starts to float in the air.

"What's your ability Hal?" Autumn asks. 

"Erm well my ability is that I can read minds, see the past, present and the future. I also know everything about everyone when I want to, I'm also very wise" he says with a little stutter.

"So you basically know everything?" Aidan asks laughing "you a know it all ahha" I like that he finds that ensuing. 

"What about yours Eighteen?" Jax says looking at me. 

"I'm not exactly sure to be honest with you" as I say that Hal starts walking towards me. 

"I could sense something about you" 

"Your the only person that I've met were I can't read there mind. Whatever your ability is, it's blocking my powers reaching you. From what I can tell you have more then one ability " he was cut off.

"Like me then" Jax and Autumn say at the same time. 

"No, she's not. Eighteen, Your the strongest person I've ever come across. Your powers are immense". I was shocked, I went from a day ago having no crazy powers to apparently having loads.

"Ha your a super hero" Aidan laughs. I don't think I am, if I killed people like Hart said I did, then I'm more of a villain.

"Well anyways mines the best, I have a super power of invisibility" Aidan adds, he was so cute. Dirty blonde hair with a bonnie face, adorable.

"But sometimes when I use it.. I can't like.. turn it off"

Jax walks up to him putting an arm around him "we'll teach you to be able to use it properly" he laughs again.

"Erm what's that?" Autumn says pointing at a pair of orange eyes hidden in a bush.

"what is that" jax quietly says to me.

" I think it's a wolf, stay still and quite everyone" I whisper.

I slowly walk closer to it to get a better look until I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Stop, I've got this" Autumn stops me. At first I was going to stop her remembering what my books said about wolves, they're viscous but then I realised she's like Mother Nature.

She goes in front of the bush and sits on her knees.

"It's alright baby, come here" she calmly says to the animal. With that a small little wolf pops it's head out of the bush. It was a small pup.

"She's been abandoned" Autumn whispers as she pets the wolf. "Can we keep her" she continues looking at me. 

"Eh well, I guess. I mean I can't tell you what to do" I answer her question making her seem very pleased. After all if Autumn has been locked up alone for a while she deserve a friend.

"What you going to call her" Aidan asks as he pets her

"Erm I'm not sure, how about... "she thinks

"Wolf ?" She says, well that's short n simple

"Hi wolf" Aidan admires the puppy, well guess that's her name then.

After a while of walking we reach the end of the Forrest. It seems we was other looking a city, I don't know what city but it had many high rise buildings and a lot of cars driving past us. 

"Okay guys, what we're going to do is find somewhere to eat. But you must not show anyone your abilities, got it ?! " Jax says looking at us all, well at least I'm not the only one making the decisions around here. 

As we were walking I was stopped by Jax "carefull there's cars" a car suddenly speeds past.

"Dickhead!" Someone shouts out a window in the fast moving car.

"Eh.... sorry I forgot about roads" I said feeling all innocent, I honestly forgot that I had to look left and right. 

"How long were you in that place for" Jax asks as we continue walking.

"11 years" 

"11 years ! Wow I was only there for about 2 years. I used to count every time the guards would shout ' lights out!' " hm I used to do something like that. It's weird thinking 'I used to' it's weird thinking I'm finally out and free but I just have a bad feeling about something.

We walk up to a place called.. 'McDonald's ?' and sit in one of their booths. 

"Why is everyone looking at us " hunter says pointing at the people. The people that were looking gave him a mucky look before I slapped his hand down. 

"Don't point it's rude " 

"Well starings rude" he answers me back

"Well, if you haven't noticed we aren't really in the normal clothing people wear" I answer him looking down at my bare feet and dirty white dress.

We were all wearing the similar types of clothing, apart for the boys who wore white trousers and a white cloth top. Hm bit sexist they got trousers and I got a draft.

"Eighteen shall we go get the food" Jax asks me 

"Eh yeh sure, Hal your in charge" I say taping him on the shoulder.

"Why aren't I in charge ?" Autumn moans

"Cause.. I said so" I say walking away.

"And anyways you need to keep an eye on the wolf" I added looking at her as she cradled the pup.

I catch up to Jax and look at the menu.

"What are we going to do about money" he ask me. I think for a moment before answering.

"I'll sort that out, I'll just get everyone a massive burger or what ever that Big Mac things is" I say looking looking at the menu.

"Hello, what would you like to order" the cashier says looking at me with a smile.

"Hi erm can I get 6 Big Macs meals with coke please" 

"Yep sure, any thing else ?" I was about to say no but then I noticed some cookies...I couldn't say no 

"Eh yeh please can I get 6 cookies too"I answer with joy.. mmm food.

"Okay that'll be £36 please" okay time to use what was given to me. I hope this works.

I stare into her eyes. I wait for her answer hoping my little mind trick works.

"Here yeh go" she says pushing the tray of food to me from across the till.

"How'd you do that?" Jax asks walking back with the food.

"I don't even know" I answer again truthfully. A lot of ' I don't knows' going around here.

After we finish eating we headed to a clothing store putting on some clothes in the changing rooms and ripping off the tags.

I look in the mirror seeing myself. I was wearing nice clean clothing I've never worn before from what I can remember. I wore a blue ripped denim jacket with a grey hoodie underneath, with some black jeans and white trainers that had three black stripes on the side of them. 

I felt the presence of someone, I looked up seeing Jax in the mirror behind me. I turn around seeing he was looking at me.

"I really wish I knew your real name" he says looking in my eyes.

"So would I" I laugh.

"What do you think we're going to do now?" I ask him. I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to tell them that I don't know how to get them home or even if their parents wanted them back.

"Well, were going to look after them, we'll look after each other okay" he walks closer.

"It's going to be the 6 of us from now on" he smiles at me, I feel like I've known him forever even though I just met him yesterday. I trust him and every word he says.

"And anyways you saved me, you saved us all. We're going to keep you safe" 

"Ha I don't think an eight year old will keep me safe" referring to Aidan.

"Nope, not an normal eight year old". 

"true true" I say laughing as he joins in.

"I just... there only kids and they look up to me to know what I'm doing and that I'll help them" I felt the pressure of looking after them.

"Yeh they do, cause they trust you and all though we just met each other, each other is all we have. We're family now" I've never had a family ugh that scared me.

"Come here" he opened his arms up. Eh what's he doing ? 

"Eh oh, give us a hug" he says as if he reads my thoughts. Oh a hug haha, I felt awkward.

I walk up to him giving him a hug, he held my head for a couple of seconds before letting go. 

"Come on, everyone's waiting outside" he says.

I walk out dumping the crappy dress I wore for a decade and dumped it in the bin hoping it will be burnt into ash.

"There's a bus that will take us to a train station, from there we can see where the furthest place is from here" Hal says to me, good idea.

He smiles to me as he reads my mind, I'm a little nervous he's always going to do that. I don't know what weird things I could be thinking of. 

He laughs, well he just did it again.

I shrug it off as we head to bus that says 'interchange' on it. We all get on the bus sitting down, I did the same little magic trick on the bus driver as I did on the cashier for the food.

We sit at the back of the bus where there was a row of 5 seats. We all sit on them apart from Autumn who was sitting in front of us with wolf. There was nobody on the bus apart from us and an old couple at the front of the bus, I don't think they saw us get on.

After waiting for half an hour for the bus to set off the engine finally starts, the bus was about to move until we hear a banging on the door. I lean over Hal and hunter, who is on my left to see who it was. As I look it was 2 men one I recognised very well it was Alex one of the guards and I presume the other one was too, s**t they found us.

"Heads down now" I say to the guys. They duck down hiding but you could easily see us. 

"Eh hold each other's arms" Aidan says. We do it with out any questions. As I look around I could no longer see Jax or hal or anyone for that matter but I could feel their hands on my arms. 

"Er guys?" 

I just remembered that their abilities didn't work on me, the guards are going to see me.

"Jax their going to see me" I say to him squeezing his hand on my arm.

"Er can't you do anything thing that'll make them forget they saw you or something?" He says really fast. With that Alex walks on to the bus. At first he didn't look at me but I was sat on the centre of the 5 seats so he's bound to see me.

He walked down the walk way of the bus looking up and down the row of seats. 

"Excuse me miss have you seen this girl ?" He asks the old couple.

"No sorry sir, may I ask why you're looking for her?" the old man says.

"She and some of the other patients escaped 'captivity 202 of the Zd institute' " what does captivity 202 mean?. And the Zd institute ? So that's what that place was called. 

"What do you mean they escaped? They were supposed to have been captured years ago. In a secure building, it's impossible for them to escape" the women said holding her husband tightly.

"Our son was killed in that war, he joined a group and killed a lot of people he was apart of generation z. So I hope all the other children will soon be dead" the old man follows on. Why did he seem happy that his son was dead though ? 

"Well I'm sorry for your loss. But yes I know, i don't have clearance to tell anybody anything. So if you don't mind" he says walking away heading further to the back, closer to me. 

I keep my head down watching his feet on the floor stepping closer to me until his feet are opposite mine and they are stood still.

"Excuse me, have you seen this girl" I look up at him but not looking into his eyes. I look at the picture of the girl, I knew it was me but it didn't look like me at all in the photo I looked very happy, not worried. I also had ginger hair in the photo but now I had bright red hair that was very long and full, I liked my new look it was different and not boring.

"Eh no sir I've never seen her before" I say looking back down. I felt the presence of the others, Jax had his hand on my lower arm as if to say that he was there and I wasn't on my own.

"Okay, sorry for bothering you. Thanks" he turns and when I think he's about to leave he turns back around to face me.

"Haven't I seen you before?"

"Erm no, I don't think you would have" I say quickly, lowering my voice trying to sound different in hopes he wouldn't recognise me.

"Ah right well, I'm sure I've met you before I just can't think where" he says still trying to get the answer he wants.

"Erm, well I don't think so. I think I'd remember you if so" I say but this time I look at him trying not to look suspicious. 

"Hm, well I like your hair by the way. Reminds me of roses" he says in his low voice and smiling at me.

He nods his head towards me as if to say bye and walks towards the door of the bus, he mumbles something towards the bus driver and walks of the bus with the other guard following behind. I look out the window keeping an eye on the guards, I was suddenly surprised when my view is blocked by Hal and Hunter sitting in their seats, for a minute there I forgot they was here. 

"That was so close" Hunter says a little nervous, the bus engine starts in the background and we start moving.

"it's okay once we are out of this town we'll be fine, we just need to get as far away as possible" Jax says following Hunter

"Where are we going to go ? I don't have a family or anyone I know" Aidan asks us, he was a remarkably brave boy for someone his age

"Erm, I'm not to sure but we will find a place where we will all be safe. okay ?" I answer Aidan who nodded and smiled back

Hal suddenly speaks making us all turn towards him "Eh, I know a place we could go" we look at him waiting for him to say something else.

"Oh its a place in a city called Hull, my Grandad used to own a Trawler company there but it went out of business decades ago. I think the building should still be there" he says with proud and confidence. 

"Well that's our best and only suggestion, so lets try there" Jax adds.
