Chapter six: A new beginning

A few hours went by, and the train finally came to a stop. Hal jumps of the train first, leaving us to follow him. We had no clue where we was going or what we where looking for. Hal was in a world of his own and that's how he likes it, and since he was so shy, I can understand why. Aidan and Hunter where walking in front of Jax and I, they where like best friends and since both of them are around the same age they where the best pair to be put in a situation like this. Autumn on the other hand was kind of like Hal in her own world but.. she was odd, it feels like she's keeping a secret but I don't know what. Since those bugs came onto the carriage she's been acting... weird. I look at Jax walking along side me his frame was over powering mine, he was very broad and strong.. quite handsome may I add. His now small scar that reached from his eyebrow to his lip made his features look more masculine along with his jaw line that was so sharp it could nearly cut you. 

"Eighteen" 

I feel a sudden grip on my hand taking me out of my day dream, Jax was squeezing my hand.

"Eighteen" he repeats, his big blue eyes peered at me waiting for a reply.

"Eh yeh" I say looking up at him

"Are you okay ? You seem a little out of it" he looks at me with worry.

"Eh yeh I'm fine, erm I'm sorry for shouting at you earlier, you know on the train, I shouldn't have done that" I say feeling guilty that I was rude to him earlier.

"No it's fine, your right the more time we waste the closer they get to us" he smiled at me gripping my hand again.

I look down at his hands which kept brushing against mine. I look up at him just glaring into his eyes with a plain face, I couldn't read his face but as soon as we released we was looking into each other's eyes for more then a few seconds we quickly looked away retrieving our hands back to our selves. 

I blush a little walking ahead, catching up with Autumn. She was walking fast like she was in a rush. 

"Where you trying to run off to?" I ask more jokingly then serious.

"I just want to walk faster and find somewhere to stay, I'm tired, fed up and annoyed that during this little war we're having against the guards you still have time to have a little chitty chat with Jax" she says snapping at me.

"Excuse me, I don't want to find a safe place anymore then you do. I out of anyone here knows the priority of this. And yes I can talk to someone saying I haven't spoken to anyone for 11 years". I snap back at her and walk on.

A few minutes past and within them minutes we began walking into a field, full of just mud which in some parts were knee deep.

"Hal where you taking us" Aidan moaned.

"Stop moaning Aidan, you're not even walking" Hunter shouted back at him. Aidan was now being given a piggy back by Jax. He was so small when we got to the deep patches of the mud, the mud would be up to Aidan's waist resulting in him getting stuck.

"Yeh but I'm tired" Aidan reply's saying as he flops his chin onto jax's head

"Ow, careful" Jax's says basically telling Aidan off for hitting his chin on Jax.

"Sorry" he says, lifting his head up but then carefully placing his chin back onto his head and closing his eyes. 

I look across the field seeing a large mass of water, it was miles away from me so I couldn't work out how far the water went. I've never seen so much water in one area before. In fact the only time I've seen a lot of water is when the guards would make me get a get a bath once a week, but that was like a puddle compared to the water in front of me. 

"You do know that's a river?" I heard a voice to my left.

It was Autumn her ginger hair fell messily in front of her face with her fringe that needed a cut. She had the wolf in between her arms who had now fallen asleep.

"Erm yeh I knew that" I didn't know that.

She laughs "okay sure" saying sarcastically.

"We're here" Hall shouts from a few metres away from us.

"Erm what is that?" Autumn basically screams at him.

I looked up seeing a huge building, it was covered in graffiti, the windows where all smashed which didn't bring much hope that our safety here was going to be okay. There was a huge sign on the front stating "Lord line". There wasn't only just this building, there was also two more near by, one being closer to the river. 

I followed the group into the building via a broken door. It was a s**t hole, there was no way we could live here, we are better off living in the field then in this. There was glass and beer cans everywhere along with graffiti inside along the walls, there was also no light, along with no floor but just a muddy concrete. And don't even get me started on the coldness in here.

"We can't stay here" Jax says looking at Hal.

"So we've walked all this way to turn back again" Hunter adds 

"Of course we can stay here guys, we have Eighteen, her abilities can sort this out" he looks at me and then everyone looks at me. 

"Erm... I don't think I can do that" 

"Sure you can how do you think your hair turned red?" I didn't follow

"Ugh do I have to explain everything" he looks at me with his arm swung out either side of him

"Eh yeh" I say confused

He puffs " because you can transform things, you know change objects into a better version of that object..."

I look around.. "I think that's pretty unlikely for me to do that"

"Please try, I'm tiredddd" Aidan shouts loudly, now looking up at me from the floor

I think for a second, "alright, what do I need to do Hal"

"Just imagine the house you've always dreamed of, simple"

Simple, you joking me

"It's okay if you can't do it, using your abilities can take a strain and we haven't rested in ages" Jax looks at me with sympathy, everyone was counting on me to do this.

I breath in deeply and imagine the house I would have grown up in as a child with my family. My brother who was killed by Hart and my parents who was savagely murder by apparently me. I take a deep breath filling my lungs and a tear slowly slides down my cheek. 

I open my eyes feeling the rage and anger swirl through my body.

"Jax" I hear Hunter and Aidan whimper at the same time

"Why is her eyes gone all black" I snap looking at the person who said it.

Hunter, I speed up to him glaring at him clearly hiding behind Jax with Aidan.

"Eighteen, your scaring them" 

I couldn't understand what they were saying my head was just making a fuzzing sound, it was painful, worse then a headache.

"Make me a bloody bedroom would yeh" Autumn shouts, but it was more of a mumble echoing in my ears.

I don't think I can control whatever is making my head f**k up. I normally can control my abilities but I felt different then normal.

I drop to the floor because the noise in my head was getting worse. I feel my eyes change back to their normal colour as I calm down.

"What was that" I swear to god if Autumn keeps speaking cocky to me I'm going to snap her neck, like to see her trying to do this. 

I breath in deeply with my hands on the floor besides my knees, I feel a hand being placed on my shoulder with a strong grip. I look up seeing Jax holding his hand out for me, I take it and he pulls me up.

As he pulls me up I stood very close to his chest, still panting I look up at him as he peers down at me. 'Keep it PG keep it PG' I think to myself.

I let go of his hand that I was still holding with a tight grip. 

"Yeh I think Jax is right you need a rest to control your powers, it seems that because your abilities are so strong if you don't have the energy for it, you will loose control. You nearly went for Hunter" Hal looks at me slightly worried.

I look at Hunter who was hiding in a corner, I smile at him, walking over slowly. "I'm so sorry Hunter, it won't happen again can you please forgive me" I can't believe I scared him

He hugs me, "as long as you can get me a nice bed to lay on then yes" 

"You can't try again just yet, you can't control it" Jax says scared I may do it again

"No it's okay I'm expecting it now, I can do it" 

"Finally" Autumn mutters, we all look at her giving her the dead eyes.

"Yeh I'm still here, cold and waiting" Wolf shakes in her arms, well I feel more sad for the wild dog then her.

I place my hand on a wall feeling the grit of the bricks between my fingers, okay so trying to think of past memories didn't work, so think of happy ones. What happy ones.. 

I think of Jax, I like him, he's kind, strong and handsome and Aidan, bless him the youngest out of us all I can imagine my brother being like him at one point, shy yet so brave for a boy his age. 

I start to imagine what my house would've looked like, I would have many rooms with a spiral staircase going through each level of the building, like the ones out of my books I would read. I imagine walking up some stairs at the school I would've attended, large and wide. Then going home to my parents cooking the dinner in the kitchen, a white clean kitchen. Something I've never seen before. Bathrooms with large showers and big baths the size of swimming pools. I'd play in the garden with my brother, smelling the flowers and the pure clean air blowing through my hair. What I'd do for that life.

With that I feel the structure of the building within my hands , feeling walls connect and align together. Hearing large sounds of bricks smashing together. 

I open my eyes feeling a sense of warmth hitting my face.

"Well thank f**k for that" Autumn says walking away into a white corridor and up a wide stair case.

"You did it" Hal says, "to be honest I didn't think it was possible" I look at him, you messing with me ?

He laughs and walks off running up the spiral staircase I was thinking of. 

I laugh and close my eyes again with a sense of relief.

I re open my eyes, expecting to see Jax in front of me, but instead seeing I'm in a white room. The room had a small marble chair within the centre and a tray with small silver metal tools on it.

"Sit down" I hear a recognisable voice. Hart 

I look around frantically, no, no I can't be in here again.

"How, how am I in here again" I look at hart who was smirking at me. 

"It was all a dream eighteen, all a dream" I think I'm about to faint. After 11 years I thought I was finally free. 

"Now sit" he shouts even louder.

I do what he says and sit down, I was back in my shabby grey dress. I hung my head down low looking at my bare feet I also see a small cut on my knee. The skin was cut quite deep but very small, like a paper cut. It was bleeding, but it was odd I had red blood not black.

"How do I have red blood" I say to him looking up to see he was closer to me, making me jump.

"We cured you" I didn't think you could be cured once your abilities awakened.

I glance at the tray with the tools where on, I don't like where this is going. 

I hear hart step closer to me looking up at him, watching every move of his. His hand had a bandage wrapped all the way around it.

"Hart, tells me. What did you do to your hand" I put him on the spot.

"I cut it whilst experimenting on other Gen Z kids" of course he did.

"Well I know you hurt that from a bullet going through your hand when we escaped" I look at him questioning every movement on his face. Why would he lie about that?

It's not real.

I jump out the chair grabbing Hart by the neck only for him to disappear in my hand.

The room began to morph into a large almost beautiful room, still white with marble but it was more expensive and not stone. I look to my side seeing everyone there.

"Are you okay ?" Hal looks at me with concern.

"Eh" I pause " Eh yeh I'm good" I say quickly looking at the ground.

"Well what you waiting for, let's go pick a room" Aidan shouts running past us and pushing Jax out of the way to run up the stairs.

"Are you sure you're okay" he says looking at me walking closer.

"Yes, well kinda. I just saw Hart just from past memories ... it's fine" I say back to him reassuring him.

"Okay, well you do know that if you need me, you know where to find me" he says placing a hand on my shoulder and walking up the stairs.

"Well its a big building, so it's unlikely I'll know where you are" I say to myself also walking up the stairs.

When I reached the top of the stairs, there was a balcony with two sofas and a table. It hovered over the large entrance we was just in, which now was almost all white marble however the drawings and graffiti that was there before was still all along the walls but they were more beautiful like a pieces of art.

The balcony had dark wood banisters all along the side of it. 

"Eighteen" Aidan shouted 

I look up seeing a large rectangle cut out in the wall in front of me. Aidan was waving at me then soon ran off. He must be exploring.

I turn around seeing a large corridor in front of me which was full of doors down it. To my left a walkway which hung along the wall like the balcony. I go ahead towards the doors which where all wide open. I glance through each one, they where all bed rooms. 

Weird how they suited each one of us. The first room had Autumn fast asleep on the bed. The room was covered in leaves as if it was overgrown .. I presume she did a little touch up to that. 

The next room was a dark grey, and again Hal was fast asleep. The following room had two beds in. It was a dark blue, I'm guessing the youngest will share this room. The following two rooms had double beds in. One was filled with books and was the colour white, the bed had red bedding and red curtains to match, whilst the other was more black with large study table in the corner.

I have no idea how I could've change this old run down building to this grand designed house. 

I go back down the wide stairs. There was three rooms and one corridor. The first room to the right was like a living room. It had three large sofas and white fluffy rug in the centre. And hanging on the wall was a large tv. Impressive I did this.

The room next to it wasn't like a room. But had a long table...that could possibly serve up to 20 people on it. The table looked like it was made out of concrete. 

The following room was a kitchen it had large windows. And a white marble tops to prepare food on. That's pretty. I walk to the big silver fridge... by big I mean BIG it was huge. I open it hearing my stomach rumble. Nothing. f**k. I open a cupboard that laid glasses and cups inside. I've never seen a glass cup before. I take one filling it with water from the tap. The lean my elbows on the the side watching the water fall. I've never seen so much water come from such a small thing. I look up through a window seeing a garden. 

I walk out the kitchen and into the corridor beside it. At the end was a door. I open in feeling the cold air hit my face. There was a huge garden. Filled with flowers and one huge tree. It was surrounded by a dark wood fence keeping us in. And everyone else out.

I walk to the tree, looking at the face of it. The dark bark on tree was smoother then any tree I've seen before. With that I feel pressure on my shoulder, someone's hand. I turn around seeing Jax. 

"Huh you scared me" I say.

"You scared ? That's unlikely" he laughs.

"Well as scary as I may look sometimes, I do get scared myself" I reply.

He smiles at me " we need to sort out somethings" I was confused.

"Like what?"

"Well we can't get too comfy here, because there still is a war going on" Jax says

"Well actually the war ended in 2018" Hal walks up to us. I thought he was asleep.

"What you mean, I thought it's still happening" I say

"The year is 2020 the war ended 2 years ago, nobody cares about what the council says because of it. They only care about preventing harm. As many families and friends of the public died" 

He carries on. " But guess who's families never where harmed, those of higher powers. Have you not wondered why we was never looked at when we was on the train or having our dinner. Because nobody cares. Of course there will be the odd one that has their nose stuck up the councils arses but the public is more or less on our side"

"Well, to be honest I didn't see any one of our ages when we was travelling" Jax says,

"Exactly" Hal adds

"So does that mean we are safe" I wonder

"Of course not. I know you're strong but I didn't take you for stupid. The guards and Hart will still be after us. They have eyes everywhere. One sighting and the guards will be here within the hour. We just have to keep our heads low" 

Hm if we have to be like this forever it's going to be a hard way of living.

"Well we need to get some security on the exits of the Lord" Jax says.

"The lord ?" 

"Yeh?, the buildings called lord lines. Sounds fitting if we call it the Lord" he adds

Hm okay, I shrug.

"We also need food" Aidan shouts as he runs up to us.

What is this ? A family meeting by the old tree.

"We'll go get some, along with other supplies"I say.

"We can't also be shopping all the time. It may be dangerous to be seen outside" Hal says, I think for a second.

" We have no option but to do a monthly run the near by shops. We'll also get Autumn to grow a small farm here in the garden. It's large enough for that" I say.

"Okay sounds like a good plan" Jax adds.

"Who's going outside first then" Aidan speaks up.

"Hm, Me, Jax and Hunter will go" 

"why can't I go!" Aidan cries

"We need someone to look after Wolf whislt we're gone" I say as wolf comes out from behind a bush.

"Hm .. okay" he smiles and walks off.

"What time is it Hal" I ask

"3:30pm" 

"Okay we'll leave at 5, shops tend to close around 7 and it'll be dark enough for it to be safe" Jax adds, how does he know what time shops close.. oh yeh cause his mind wasn't erased.

It was now 5 o'clock and Jax, Hunter and I where getting ready to go. We had nothing to bring with us so we said goodbye to everyone and left Hal in charge. Even though Hunter was young he was a very fast walker for his age along with being strong and to be honest if we left Hunter and Aidan together it wouldn't have gone down well for either Autumn or Hal. Along with that Autumn wouldn't have come because she's a typical Teenager and Hal needs to stay in case anything happens. I mean he can read the future so us leaving them alone and us going away for the night must be safe. I hope. 

With that the three of us set of. We had no idea where we was going. After about an hour and a bit of walking we found a main road which we followed keeping near the bushes not to be seen. There was more cars I could've ever imagined. There was two lanes of cars driving one way and two the opposite way. The cars followed up a bridge the was as if it was floating in the air and under it was another large road with may cars on it. We finally got to the end of the road which led to many shops, from toys shops to make-up shops. The first one we walk into is a clothes shop. as we only had one outfit each we needed more clothes. 

"We don't have no money" Hunter says

"No we don't, we'll do as we did before" I say remembering what we did at the shop previously.

"Will this help?" Jax asks.

I look over to him seeing him near a metal crate with wheels. What the hell is that? 

"It's a trolley?" he says obviously knowing I was confused.

I nod my head and walk in with Hunter pushing the trolley. The doors moved on there own sliding away from each other like opposite magnets. Wow I've really missed out on a lot of things here. 

"Grab as many clothes as you can" Jax says to the both of us. 

With that the three of us grab as many clothes as we can. All different sizes and colours. More male clothes then females, obviously because there more boys. We grab shoes and blankets that was also there. I think to myself, how are we going to be able to get away with this.

I saw a middle age women smiling at me. She was watching us. I walk towards her as she walked towards me. Mmm what do I say, what do I say.. 'close your eyes' 'don't look' ahh.

As she get closer she speaks to me but not leaving an eye on the other two.

"Hello" she had a sweet voice.

I place one hand out up to her face quickly "Sleep".

With that her head hits the floor and her body goes limb. Ouch that'll hurt.

"Right time to leave" we take the trolley going to another shop that sold food. Doing the same thing there. Me saying sleep to the workers and grabbing as much as we can. this time we filled two trolleys up. I have no clue how we will be able to get this all back to the Lord.

When we got out the second shop we looked around. There is no way we can get this back without being spotted. 

"What now?" Hunter says.

We all stay silent for a few moments. 

Jax points at a car. 

I look at him. "I don't know how to drive one of those things. Do you ?"

"Yep, when I was little my dad taught me on our field. And then during the war we would steel cars"

"we?" I question

"Me and some other kids" 

Ah

We walk to the car. It was very big and all black. 

"Hunter" Jax calls

"Melt the locks" he says. 

With out a word Hunter put the palm of his hand on the door handle. it warms up enough that the outside stays the same shape but the inside had melted away. With that he opens the door. Walking round doing all 4 locks.

"Climb in" he says.

I step into the car at the passenger side, pressing a button for the 'trunk'. I press it seeing the back lift up in the mirror. Oh that's cool. Jax and Hunter through everything from the trolleys into the back and eventually climb in.

"Thanks for the help" Hunter says.

"I thought you was doing a good enough job as it is" I joke. Receiving a chuckle from the two.

I loud raw comes from the centre of the car. 

"whatcha press Hunter?" I shout

"what I didn't do anything" he says. With that we start moving, I held onto the nearest thing near me. which was the side of the door and jax's thigh. I look at where my hand was an quickly lift it up. I cough looking away. I slowly turn my head to look at Jax's face. He had a very small smirk on his face. Ugh that was embarrassing. 

I felt so sick being in the car. I imagine having the ability of speed to be like this. Im glad I don't have this. Then again, I may do. Ugh. My eyes start closing, and with no sleep for more then a day. I let the dark cover my eyes. Soon falling to sleep where I laid.
