Sam's P.O.V The party was nothing like I expected it to be. They had a DJ-booth and all. Every pack has a big empty room for events and they built it into a club in no-time. It was night time and we partied all night. We had drinks, delicious food and music, not much more was needed. We went outside and made a campfire to sit around. It was like they had never done it before so and Jac and I built it as big and high as possible. We were telling stories about our time away from home. How we found our new home, friends and even little Alex. Suddenly, I smelled a toxic scent. I jumped up and growled low in the direction it came from. Jac also noticed the scent and did the same. We stood there, growling at the forest and nothing happened. Then we smelled why. "The ones unable to fight, back inside. We're surrounded!" I yelled and the youngest ran inside. Jac jumped on top of the house to find the wolves surrounding us. I decided to walk close to the edge of the open place and run past all of them. I walked all the way to the edge and looked straight into two red eyes. He was going to attack and I ran. I sprinted past all the wolves in hope they were all going to chase me so we only had one front. Some did and some didn't. I kept running to take them all with me. I ran on their speed so they didn't lose hope and kept running, until the alpha came. He was faster then the other wolves and now it was only him chasing me. Jac and the others attacked the panting group of wolves while I ran in front of the alpha. He was black as well and he too was pretty big, but not as big as me. He thought he had me because I was running longer than he was and for him on full speed. I decided to sprint and let him know who was faster. I ran way in front of him, turned and made myself ready to fight. We circled each other for a while and I noticed the fight didn't go well. Our wolves are never taught how to fight and now Jac had to do it all. He took down two wolves at a time but many of us got wounded. The alpha was now my priority. "Why are you attacking my pack?!" I asked but yelled at the same time. He couldn't talk but I knew damn well he wanted this pack to be his. "You won't get my pack. We are free and so we will stay." I said and I attacked. He got some good hits but I got more. Before I could kill him he ran away. Jac was still fighting the wolves off while almost our whole pack was injured. I joined him but the wolves were already retreating. We won but these wolves had to learn how to fight. We brought the injured to the hospital. "What did they want?" Samantha said putting different creams on the wounds and making x-rays of the wolves who might have broken something. "What do you think they wanted. The pack of course. They are defeated but not gone." Jac said. "We have to teach the pack how to fight because we will leave again soon." I said looking at the wolves. Some were in human form and some in wolf form but they were all wounded. "Why are you leaving soon?" Samantha asked. "We were originally searching for our father and we don't want to be busy finding him too long." I said. "And will you return after you found him?" She asked and I thought. "Maybe, we have a base to look after too. Two homes." Jac said. "And now a small little kid, a little bro to look after." I say and Samantha smiles. He choose the right siblings. No one as overprotective and yet fun as you two." She said. "They will be fine, right?" Zoe asked as she walked inside. "Yes, they will be fine." Samantha said smiling. "Why can't they fight?" she asked. "Because our alpha didn't approve to anyone training and fighting. He used excuses that didn't even make sense and were totally off topic." Samantha said. "Shawn can kind of fight because he was often watching us train. He knows techniques but never practised them with a professional." I said. "Well, thanks for protecting us." She said smiling. She turned around to leave but I stopped her. "Zoe? Can we have a walk together?" I asked. She froze and turned back around. She wasn't sure. I could be dangerous. "Don't worry Zoe. You are precious for Shawn so you are precious for them. She won't hurt you." Samantha said smiling while helping a patient. "Well, okay then. Now?" She said and I nodded. We walked outside and towards the weeping willow. "Jac and I were here when you and Shawn were down here. We didn't want to scare you so we stayed up in the tree. Any questions you wanted to ask Shawn but didn't?" She was silent and I made myself comfortable by laying down under the tree. "Since you are Shawn's mate, our past is part of your past. It can be useful to know things about our past since they can often come back." I said looking at her. First she didn't look at me. After a while she looked into my eyes and then at my scar. "Did the alpha really give you that scar and pulled Jac's nail out?" He asked. It pained me to think about it but I tried not to show it. "Yes. We were locked up in that now beautiful cell. Back then, it was filled with blood, dirt and claw marks, which are still there. The claw marks should tell you about the pain we had to endure." I said. "You are searching for your father, why didn't he run with you?" "He was weak. My parents were too strong for the alpha and they got some kind of drug to keep them weak. We saved him and ran away. Even if he wasn't that weak, he wouldn't have been able to keep up with us." I said. She was silent for a while, thinking about an other question. "Why are you and your brother so big, strong and fast?" She asked eventually. "I don't know. That is a reason why we are trying to find our dad. If anyone we know knows why we are like this, it would be him." I said. It was silent and she didn't know what to ask. "Where are you from? What pack?" I asked her. "I come from the Hill's pack. We are small but happy." She said. "So you left for Shawn. How did you find him?" I asked. "My BFF and I were running around a bit and we ran on this territory. We thought it was free because we didn't smell any alpha marking the territory. We were running around as I suddenly smelled Shawn's intoxicating scent. I knew it was my mate but I was afraid it was a rouge. Our pack has rouge attacks all the time so I was a bit scared to go to him. Maybe he and the other rouges would kill me or something. My friend encouraged me to go and we went. We found this house and were greeted happily by some members. I wasn't so scared anymore. I saw Shawn and he saw me. I visited him for a while without my friends. He couldn't come to us because my alpha hates rouges because of those attacks and we couldn't risk it. After a while I decided to live here and here we are." She said. I smiled. "You really shouldn't be afraid of me. I see you love Shawn and I love him too. He was my best friend once and he will stay my best friend." I said and she smiled too. She crawled towards me and gave me a hug.
