Heart desired

It was the same dream again. A red moon was illuminating the familiar scene. Red was everywhere, on the ground, on her clothes, on her hands. Red light from the moon washed over dead trees, and no more than three feet away was the sea, bathed in a dark hue of red. Torn cloths and scattered bodies were everywhere, on the ground and hanging from the trees. She knew them. Or at least she used to know them. Her family, her friends, her lover. Everyone was in pieces before her. Bile rose in her throat. She turned around, her breath was deep and shaky. Out of the dark, someone clapped. She froze as a handsome youth stepped in to the light from behind a tree, checking out the bloodbath she just made. She watched as he checked each corpse with his eyes, eyes sparkling with a cruel amusement. She stood there, without moving an inch as he came closer and closer, his steps light and unhurried. He moved like a summer breeze. Then he was hugging her, and she leaned into that embrace, finally letting out the breath she locked in. His fingers were like ice on her bare skin, and she shivered again. He smiled at her discomfort, hugging her harder. She felt his lips moving towards her ear, his lips whispering in a soft murmur. There was no breath, like he was already dead, too. "Don't seek, my darling. I guarantee you, the more you seek, the more you will perish." She collapsed into him as he spoke. As her soul began to shatter from the realization of what she had done, soundless sobs shook her. He tightened his embrace till it hurt her. Still, she cling on as she laughed and cried, unable to stop. Gasping for air, Nasha Rawyer woke up with a scream.
