I stared at Resh. "What do you mean? But-"
Resh cursed out loud. "That damned spy."
I still could not wrap my mind around this. "How was it? Are the casualties high? Did the get their stones before the attack? Relach went to Leven, right? Were they able to fight back?"
"We don't know." Resh said. "We just got the news ten minutes ago. We are now getting the soldiers here to depart for Leven."
An ominous feeling crept into my head. "No." I Said. "Don't. We need soldiers here."
"I know you had the dream two days ago." Resh said, looking at me sympathetically. "The predictions change. Sometimes, people's decisions change. Right now, we have to protect Leven. There is no time to reconsider."
I stared at him. He did not see what I was talking about. Every logic went against this attack. I knew my dream was true. Assuming it happened the exact time I saw it, there was no way to redirect the attack. We stole the stones after eighteen or so hours after. Then the troops would have already been dispatched.
Even if the spy figured our plan and leaked the information to Rawen, the soldiers would still be in the forest. Suddenly changing directions and attacking Leven would have taken at least two to three days. This was too soon.
If the dream had happened sometime before I saw it, still this attack was impossible. The troops would have reached even closer to Yorosso and changing destinations would have taken longer.
This attack... it almost felt intentional.
The soldiers were busy preparing to depart in thirty minutes. As soon as they went, the last line of defense between Capital and Yorosso would be gone. Even though the soldiers were assumed to be helpless, by breaking their minds Elves exhausted their powers, making it harder to invade another city by an attack.
Unless this was what they wanted from the beginning.
I touched Resh's hand and pushed all the horrifying images forming in my head to his mind. Every logic, every thought, flew into him, making him see what I was seeing.
I saw as his eyes widen with surprise. I did not like these types of illusions. They took a piece from me as well. Just like I did back in the caves with those deformed Elkelyns.
"I'll talk to Aarr." Resh began to run. I followed him, shutting the door behind us. If my predictions were right, right now, an attack was coming from the woods, straight to where I was.
I went outside and pulled a soldier aside. "What happened to the stones?" I asked. "Were you able to give it all away?"
He looked at me for a while. "Yes, your highness." He said. "But you really should have given them to people in Leven."
I looked at the soldier. "We did."
His face relaxed. "Thank the ancestors. Can I get going now?" I nodded. I remembered him being the one of the soldiers who looked at me like I was total trash. Oh, well, I could not do anything about it, so I stopped worrying that much.
He walked away. I also continued towards the direction Resh went. From yesterday's experience, I knew where Aarr's office located so it was not hard finding them.
Sure enough, when I approached, Resh was ready to burst with flames. Tips of his fingers were turning to a glowing red and his eyes looked like molten lava. Aarr stood, his back facing Resh, completely disregarding him.
"No. Absolutely not." He was saying. "First, you come here with your so called sister, who is an Elf. Just look at her pointed ears. She is one of our enemies and she just proved it by her false information. I bet she deliberately did this to let Leven to fall apart."
I put a hand on Resh's shoulder, calming him down. I wished if Glaze was here. Her water would be a great help right now. Resh looked at me with menacing eyes. I looked directly into them, without hesitation. Slowly, the abnormal light in his eyes faded.
Aarr wasn't done. "Who knows if your stones even work? I bet that was one of your schemes to get us to like the new princess. Can you imagine it? Us? Obeying an Elf? I would never bow my head to that w***e. She comes here and seduces our second prince, somehow got the king wrapped in her fingers, don't think we know what she does to get them? I bet even you-"
This time, I could not held Resh back as he punched Aarr on the back. I did not see him move at all. I could match his normal speed if I give my full strength to my legs. I wondered how his hundred percent felt like.
"Aarghh!!" Aarr fell on to the ground, his stomach flattening on the ground. He was a short and bulky man, so it took sometime for him to get up. He looked at me with eyes full of hatred. "So, you are showing your true colours, huh? Do you go around punching people who you can't seduce? I also can give you a good time if you want. I know my ways around-"
"Actually," Resh said, his face dangerously calm. "I'm the one who punched you, Aarr."
Aarr lost his composure for a bit, but then he sneered at Resh. "You are no better, half bred monster. Did you think I would ever bow to a hybrid like you? If you didn't appear on this kingdom, prince Savin would-"
"Shut the f**k up." I said. "No matter how much you holler, Prince Savin is not here to kick your ass for disrespecting royalty. Right now, you have insulted two of your king's choices, and let me remind you, he is a pure blood Elkelyn."
He looked at me, his lower lip curling downwards. Before he could speak again, Resh interrupted him. "Call your soldiers back. We need protection in Yorosso. It's the last line of defense to Capital."
"So is Plycin." Aarr said. "I don't see you running around there. Or Ehmoth."
I wanted to beat up this man out of my way faster. Just as I was about to snap at him again, an object came towards us. My hand shot up from muscle memory, catching a flying arrow before it hit Aarr. I regretted my decision as soon as I realized what it was. Should have let the bastard die here.
Aarr looked upwards as countless burning arrows crashed down on all around us.
The attack on Yorosso had finally begun.
