//Chapter 14//

When we reached the border, sun was setting down. The warning alarm kept going inside my head. I ignored it completely. What was the danger here? The three of us were best friends. We loved each other. There was nothing to be worried about. Daniel passed the border line first. My friend pulled me back. I staggered a little bit. I saw Daniel looked at me, horrified. I laughed at him. "Why do you look so horrified? My friend likes to pull pranks! Ha ha ha! He is so nice!" My friend pulled me to his side. "Did you hear what she said? I'm so nice. How is your hand from last time?" "Nasha, listen here, come to my side." Daniel said, gesturing me over. This is your home, remember? We have to see your father." I vaguely remembered something like that. "But that can wait, right? Let's... let's do what my friend wants first!" My instincts were screaming now. I honestly didn't understand why. Everything was perfect. "Listen here." my friend said, putting a dagger to my throat. I giggled. My friend was such a master of pranks, pretending to slice my throat! "I've got the princess now. Tell me everything you know about Elkelyn. If you refuse, she will die." "She would want me to." Said Daniel. "Or I can just cross the border again and kill you instead." "You know you can't." My friend said."Cross the border, and you are my friend again." "You are not one of us." Daniel said, matter of factly. "You can't use magic inside the border. That's why I am free." "Stop stating the obvious." "You are the one who attacked us that night." Daniel continued. My head started feeling heavy. I rested it against my friend's chest. "You wield both elemental and mind magic. What are you, a hybrid?" I felt him getting angry. I patted his hand. "Don't be angry, my friend." He clicked his toungue, batting my hand away. My head was pulsing now. Something was repeating itself in my head. I closed my eyes and listened. I should go to Daniel now. He will be hurt if I find another friend. That's right. I did not want Daniel to get hurt. My friend also dropped his dagger. I stepped out of his hands and reached for the border. In a flash, Daniel caught my hand, dragging me inside. Almost immeadietly, my head cleared up. What the hell was that? Who was it- I turned. A good looking skinny person stood just two feet away from the border, his expression distant. "Did you do that to me?" I asked Daniel. "Yeah." he muttered. "He can't use magic in here, but we can on both sides." "Good thinking." I said. "And thanks." "Uh huh. So what should we do with him now?" "I don't know. Why is he looking like that? It's almost like he is under an illusion." "I just told him that it is a good thing to let you go and remember what he ate for breakfast three days ago." I chuckled. Even I could not remember what I ate. Lord Draken had made special meals for me since I could not drink blood like they did. Must have been some kind of fruit. I looked at the boy. Just like the night he attacked us, he felt so familiar. His killing intent was high, but he did not look like a bad person to me. I paused. Did I just think that someone with a strong killing intent was nice? I must be still hallucinating. And yet still, I was friends with people whose professions were quiet questionable. I guess I am the masochist here. The boy snapped out of his trans and looked at us, his expression turning to a scowl. "Stupid elves." "Who are you? I asked. "I feel like I know you from somewhere." "Oh really? You do?" His tone was full of sarcasm. Now I was certain. I definitely knew him. "Yes." I said boldly. "I don't get that feeling for random reasons, and my instincts are hardly wrong. Tell me." "Nasha, I hate to say this, but guards must be coming here any minute. We should hurry up." For some reason, I did not want to leave him here. "Tell me," I insisted. Daniel didn't say anything, as if sensing that I was not going to leave without him here. The boy kicked a stone. "I am your brother." I wanted to laugh. If I knew anything for sure, that was me being the only heir to the throne got me in to a load of trouble. If I really had a brother, I did not think I had to go through any of that. But at the same time, these two weeks have been crazy enough for me to know that everything could be possible, even vampires exsisting. Daniel grabbed my hand. "They are coming. We have to go. Now." I quickly pulled the skinny guy inside the barrier. He looked equally surprised as Daniel, who pursued his lips and didn't say anything. We crouched behind some trees and waited for the searching guards to pass. There were two of them, dressed exactly as I remembered. They brought up so many bad memories making me look away. Daniel will be doing his part, planting the idea inside them to not to look here because it's pointless. After they passed and we were again, I sighed. To sigh this much, I must be becoming Savin. The thought of him sighing made me smile. Old man. "So," I turned to the boy. "you call yourself my brother." "Well, I can't confirm it." He said. "I was thrown out of Rawen when I was eight, and mom was carrying you by then. Seers told my dad that my fate was to bring him down. Still, he raised me secretly till I was eight, when people some people found out about me. And then I was thrown out." We were walking past a small stream. I dipped my toes in to it, removing my boots. I really, really needed a moment. Daniel followed me, but my brother didn't. I shook my head. I was already referring to them as my brother. "If that's true, then tell me about mom." I said. "Say her true name." He stared at me for a while. Then he walked up to me and whispered in my ear. "Sumi." My heart raced. No. way. No f*****g way. I stared at him, speechless. What the hell does this mean? That I really had a brother all this time? Why the hell no one told me? Or may be he was a secret mind reader. "My, my, look who's back!" someone came to the view. I whipped my head around. Minister Nave was smiling at us like he just discovered a rare gem. "Our little princess, her little friend and our little prince nobody wants!" Fifty or so guards appeared behind him, circling us so we won't escape. "Welcome back!"
