"So, how many ledgers did you find?" Cara asked. I leaned back on my chair, exhausted after breaking in to old man Pelos's mansion.
"Just one." I replied, opening my pack and taking it out. "I heared some footsteps before I could open the rest of the drawers. I couldn't afford getting caught. If father finds out, I would be in a load of trouble."
"One is fine." Warren. "We can start from there."
"Yeah," Tristan said. "Let's check it."
We flipped through the pages, checking for illegal transactions, using young elves in mines and bribing authorities. Oh, we didn't have to check. The ledger was filled with them.
"Well, it seems like we have a lot to do." Warren said.
"I'll take care of all those pests flying around the city." Tristan said. "Dan and Warren can do the kidnapping. Cara and Nasha can get the information out for any other extra information we need."
"What if the have insfi stones embedded to their bodies?" I asked. Some people did that to stop people getting in to their heads.
"Then we will toture them." Warren said, expressionless. I stiffened. "I know some professionals on that. It's okay."
I thought we would be happy when we departed that night. We've started a society to protect our people from the greedy ministers. But something heavy hung up on the air.
It didn't take long for our little society to become a wanted criminal group. All of our friends expect me, Cara, Daniel and Cicily had a bounty on their head in three months after that.
Something woke me up.
I sat down immeadietly. There was a strange sound coming from somewhere. For the past seven hundred and nine days I was here, there was no outside sounds except when Revenen came. This was not even night time. Guessing from the shadows, it's probably past midnight.
Boom Boom Clack clack clack.
The walls were shaking. Little debris fell from the stones. Every time a boom sounded, I swayed on my feet. What the hell was happening?
I backed away from the most shuddering wall. It felt like a giant warm crawling through the earth. After about thirty minutes, the sounds stopped completely. I stood still, not daring to move. If anything break through the walls, I did not had anywhere to go or a weapon to fight back.
A muffled voice came through the walls. He sounded like a boy. "Let's bring this wall down."
Hold on. What? If the wall fall, I will be crushed. "Wait." I called out. "Someone is in here! Don't bring the wall down?" The last part came as a question. I didn't know who or what was behind that wall. I had thought it was another cell because the The Eternal Prison spread circulating under the prison.
How did this boy even get in here?
There was a moment of silence. Then the boy spoke. "Step away from the center, please."
I quickly stepped away, afraid of being crushed. A small hole enough for someone to stand up fell on to the floor the next second, as if someone cut through stone like butter. The huge chunk of rock fell on to the ground, shaking the whole room violently.
After the dust cleared, I looked up. A hole big enough for a grown up man to fit in was sitting right on the middle of the room. Soon, a boy of age seven or eight stepped inside. Another boy followed him. Then two men came to my cell.
I stared. I knew three of them. I spoke in disbelief. "Savin? Resh? and you are Kylan, right?"
"Hi, big sister," Kylan grinned mischievously. It was exactly same as I remembered.
I backed away till my back hit the wall. "What are you doing here? No, you can't be here. Go back."
"Go back?" Resh asked. "Are you kidding? It seemes like sitting here for almost two years have messed with your mind."
I sat back on the ground, ignoring all the debris and dust. "You don't understand. This is way better for me than being up there."
Savin sat down beside me. I waited for him to say something, but he just stayed there, looking around. Others also sat down, following his lead. I silently examined them. Kylan had grown up several inches taller. His dark hair was ruffled. He was frowning. I felt sorry for him.
The other boy was eyeing me, as if seizing me up. All my clothes had holes by now after wearing them for so long. My hair wasn't brushed, and my toe nails were broken in places. Can you blame me? There was nothing to cut them here so I waited for them to get long enough and hit the wall with them till they broke.
My bones could be seen through my skin. I must look like a ghost to them.
Savin looked exactly like he was when I left him. The only difference was the golden brown brooch on his shoulder. I realised that Resh was also wearing an Elkelyn outfit, identical to Savin. Even the brooch was the same. Huh. Did they got married?
"Where is Daniel?" I asked.
"You mean prince Surren?" Savin asked. "Actually, he is the King Surren now."
"The king?" My heart began to beat faster. "What happened to my father?"
"He was severely wounded that day." Resh replied. "He didn't last for long. The physicians managed to keep him alive for almost three weeks. Long enough to name the new heir, since you went missing. Then he died." He did not sound that much sad about it.
I took a deep breath. At least Daniel was alive. So was the others. "I don't think I know you." I said to the other boy beside Kylan.
"I'm Zone." He said. "I cut rocks." Well, he was so on point.
"He is my best friend!" Kylan said.
"After Kahlee." Zone said, indifferent.
"She is my twin. She doesn't count." Kylan folded his hands. "You got to accept the fact that you are my best friend."
"Enough chit chat." Resh stood up. "Come, Nasha, let's go."
"No, I can't." I said, not moving. "Thank you for coming here. But it's better if I stayed."
"Why?" Savin asked.
So I told them. The dreams, the predictions, everything. Everybody stared silently at me. "And ever since I came down here, I did not dream it anymore. It's like, that fate was finally over."
Savin was smirking. I glared at him. "What's so funny?"
"To think your dreams were filled with me even before I actually met you. And every time, I had been hugging you. I think we are meant to be together."
See. This was why I wanted to hit him back then. I had forgot about that.
"That's my sister you are talking about." Resh said, displeased.
I smirked. Now I had my big brother to protect me. "And Daniel-"
"Is married." Savin interrupted me, finishing my sentence for me. "His son is a year old now."
