THIRD PERSON POV
He ran until his legs almost gave away. As he ran through the woods behind the Orthodox hospital, the wind pulled off the wig he had on and the long golden hair was revealed.
His tall frame that made him look unrecognizable, which was the result of the outfit he had on, peeled off the more he ran until he got to a lush patch of field and fell down.
His chest heaved heavily with sadness and a little trace of tears appeared near his eyes but he pushed it back with all power he had.
“Why did I go there?” He questioned himself as his chest was still heaving bitterly.
Still there, A Ferrari Masterati Sports car sped up beside him from the tarred road beside and another man came out and rushed to him.
“Gamma, are you fine?” The concerned fellow tried pulling him up.
Gamma Adonai refused to bulge, as he ran his hand through his hair harshly, and for the first time since Alpha King Elon, (Nirvana’s husband) knew Adonai who was his best friend, he saw him cry.
Elon quickly pulled out a handkerchief and gave it to him. “What is the situation over there? Why are you crying? What’s wrong, Gamma?”
“I failed again” he breathed sadly and erratically, still crying. “I failed to get her again. She pulled off my mask”
Elon gasped! “Did she see your face? Or have you forgotten that Gwi didn’t want….”
“f**k Gwi and his minions!” Adonai yelled. “f**k them all!! My forbidden fruit is there suffering with sickness while carrying my child and I couldn’t do anything about it!” He sobbed the more.
“But you gave her a lot of money three days ago before she fainted?” Elon asked curiously, now sat beside him.
Adonai cleaned his eyes. “With the look of things, seems like her stepmom has hijacked it”
Elon bowed his head, obviously in shame. “It’s my fault. I thought the stepmom would let her be by letting my Luna go to help them at the club but I don’t know….”
“She was so lean, Elon” Adonai said again. “I wanted to gather her in my arms and take her to somewhere far and live happily, but Gwi that bastard….”
Then he clenched his fists just like his teeth were clenched. “No. I will just keep seeing her in secret until I finish paying off the debts I owed him”
Saying this, his mind wandered back to when he died in a fatal plane crash. But Gwi the sorcerer who ruled the underworld of rouges and revenantsad given him another chance in life when his soul was still wandering aimlessly, and in exchange, he had to be his minion for over seven years.
Since Gwi was a black magic artist whose network cannot be fought against, Adonai who was brought back to life had no choice than to agree to pay the debt for the life he gave him again.
But Gwi’s condition was that no one must know he was alive until his mission was complete.
Elon was his best friend and the only one who could help him with anything if things went wrong and they only meet in secret like this because Gwi had vowed to kill whoever that knew he was alive.
“Perhaps you can ask for Gwi’s help to keep her safe” Elon suggested. “He was enslaving you for seven years. You have to tell him that you’re a father-to-be now”
Adonai smiled sadly, “If I had died, would I have asked the goddess for a second chance?” He got to his feet. “Gwi is mad. I can’t let him mess with your life so go back now, I’ll contact you if I need to”
Elon held his shoulder, “Bro, are you sure you’ll be fine?”
Forcing a smile, Adonai replied. “I got to see Balqis’s face, Thanks to you for bribing the doctor. I’m okay with that”
Elon turned to leave but stopped, when he remembered something. “Nirvana told me about some drunkard that was caught on CCTV, and that….”
“Oh that’s Darkmoon another revenant under Gwi” Adonai cut into his words. “He came with me to the club and he apologized because he didn’t know she was mine”
“That’s why you marked her?” Elon chuckled moving toward his car.
Adonai heaved a sigh again, “I never thought marking would make her faint. I forgot I was a revenant when I did that. My revenant mark is more dangerous, and it weakens her”
After a while, Elon left him alone and sped away.
Adonai spread his hands into the air and drew in long heavy breath before walking away slowly.
Along the way, Darkmoon met him. “Where did you run off to again? Gwi was asking for you. He gave you your first mission today”
“Hun?” He managed to mumble.
Darkmoon’s eyes widened as he didn’t see his mask anywhere. “Where is your mask?”
“Threw it away” he mumbled again.
Darkmoon’s gasped. “Did you know the consequences of letting anyone know you’re alive before you finish paying off your debt?”
Adonai said nothing and walked on, the reality of what Darkmoon was saying hitting him back to back.
Using Darkmoon’s mask as the security bypass they entered the forest and walked just some meters until they got to the gigantic house where they lived.
This place was sealed with Dark magic and no one can casually see this house without that bypass mask or getting rid of Gwi’s magic.
Adonai ignore the greetings threw at him and ascended the stairs toward Gwi’s office. He hesitated before entering the office.
Getting there, Adonai bowed to the empty chair like he should until Gwi himself appeared on the chair and ordered him to raise his head.
Adonai obeyed and Gwi, whose face was covered with a very demure and elegant mask, smirked and threw a file at him.
“Your first mission is to kill those people and everything you find in their home. Then bring their hearts to me” he ordered.
Adonai opened the file and saw that one the people he was sent to kill was Elon’s family member. He threw the file immediately. “I can never kill anyone!”
“Then give back the life I gave you”
Hearing this, his shoulder dropped with disappointment and he felt like crying but had no choice than to take the file before leaving the room but before he exited, Gwi called him back. “Where did you go?”
Adonai stilled and gulped hard before answering… “To.. to the club”
Gwi was silent for a long time before gesturing that he leave.
Getting outside, Adonai clenched his fists as he thought, “I will get away from your grip soon and put you in my position right now!”
Saying that, he walked off with sadness.
