::Drake's POV::     ''GO!'' I bellowed.      I managed to break the chains that bounded me to the platform right before Ronnie was about to be devoured by her own soldiers. I knew I could break free from the shackles, but I didn't want to risk it until I really needed it, but Ronnie is someone worth getting caught for.     ''Drake,'' she could hardly stand up, ''Sarah needs you. Not me.'' her explanation pained me to decide what to do.     ''GO!'' I repeated and ended the tone in a more soft volume, ''Please, she will need you there as well. Please,'' I begged, ''Protect her. I love her.''     Veronica nodded and found a cranny escape and took the chance. Her tears flew into the wind, but I read them perfectly clear, ''Please Drake, stay alive. Do not give up!''      I don't intend to. I hurled a controlled soldier towards the wall. He was instantly knocked out and fell to the ground with a thud.     ''It's me you want!'' I yelled at King Aaron, ''Don't you f*****g dare pursue her.''     ''Oh you don't have to worry about that.'' he promised, ''Re-shackle him and take him away.'' he ordered.     Some of the royal guards were hesitant to approach me. Damn sure they should! I could feel Terry just cracking his bones wanting me to shift. But, Sarah's well being meant everything to us, and for that we surrendered to our punishment.     I felt a new set of shackles being placed around my body. My body almost dropped to the floor as if gravity multiplied by 100!     ''What the f**k is this?!'' I could barely manage to speak.     ''These are special chains that were forged from black magic from the vampires back in the 1300's.''     My wolf's ears pricked up, ''Vampires?! What the-''     ''There is nothing to worry about, vampires have perished to our kind since 200 years ago. It was thanks to the royal alpha bloodline that our kind still thrived today!'' the king proudly explained.     I've heard fairy tales about vampires. They were said to vicious and vile creatures who fed on the blood of their preys, more specifically humans at that. Us werewolves do have human blood running within us and it was centuries of war between the vampires and werewolves. It wasn't just for the sake of both sides, but also for the human race. The inferior species among us, but their innocence and existence was one of the reasons we fought for their survival.     But we had to do it in secret, the last time someone found out about our shifting they alerted the humans who then still try to hunt us down for god knows what. All we knew was from that mistake we must not include ourselves with them. It had been this way for a while now.     ''How do you still have it?!'' I grunted in agony.     ''Well, this special chain was passed down generations to generations. It was used for handling disobedience, even within the royal alpha bloodline. So you see? You can't even dream of breaking free without the key,'' he dangled a large set of keys between his fingers, ''Which I have.''     ''I don't care what you do to me, leave my mate alone.'' I accepted ion defeat.     ''Oh I almost forgot.'' he formed an evil grin upon his face, ''I won't hurt her or anything.'' he gestured his hands and Megan made her appearance, ''But she most definitely would.''     ''Yes your majesty,'' she bowed on her knees, ''I wouldn't have asked for a greater opportunity,'' she smirked over at me.     ''It's too bad you chose her,'' she came closer, ''We would have made wonderful babies, and led a great nation together. But...'' she slapped my face, ''You f*****g chose a mutt over me!''     Her slap was not as powerful as the punches I have received on the battlefield, but it infuriated me that this w***e touched me! Terry was trying to come alive, but the power of the chains were keeping us at bay. I didn't know what exactly we could do at this point.     ''I promised her that she will suffer more than what she already has,'' she whispered into my ear, ''Now without the big bad wolf to protect her I wonder how she'd hold up?'' her voice trailed on, ''Maybe I'll have her defiled again!''     I tried to strain and attack her for saying that, but the chains held me in place.     ''f**k you, burn in hell,'' I cursed.     ''What you will be going through will be far worse than hell.'' she scoffed.     She turned back to the king, bowed and then leaped into the air and out of the stadium. Megan was gone once again.         Panic rose within my heart, its beat was terrified about Sarah going through another suffering. The gears in my head cranked and began to overthink the possibilities that could happen to her. It soon turned to hatred and demise as I eyed the king dead in the eye, ''I will kill you if anything happens to her,'' I promised with gritted teeth.     ''I'd like to see you try,'' he laughed while walking away, ''Guards... calm hi down and take him to the dungeon.''     Before I could shift my gaze I felt a stabbing pain on one of my shoulders. The agony was so unbearable and my healing wasn't keeping up. Wolfs bane! One of the guards jammed in another into my other shoulder which caused me to scream in pain. I couldn't feel my arms, I was already battling the intense pull of the chains.     ''ARRRGGHHH!'' they stabbed more onto my quadriceps causing me to fall to the ground. I felt every drop of that cursed toxin spewing into my blood stream. My wolf was already twitching in pain, rolling and crying in the back of my head.     We can't give up Terry, our mate needs us.     I can only hope that my words reached him, because he continued to whimper and howl in pain. I felt my breaths becoming heavier, but my vision became blurry. My mind became dizzy with the thinking I wasn't getting enough air, and then, I blacked out. I didn't know what they were going to do, or where they were taking me, but I only wished to be with Sarah, it was the last thought I could imagine before I got out cold. ::Veronica's POV::     I didn't know what else to do but keep running. I couldn't stop my tears from falling deliberately knowing I was going to leave my best friend behind. Didn't he know that Sarah needed him more than me? What exactly can I do if I do catch up to her? Oh your mate told me to go so I ran instead of trying to save him?     That'll be rich. I shook more tears away.     My life had nothing else to live for, all I wanted was to repay my best friend his kindness. I was willing to make the sacrifice, I was ready to die. Why couldn't that stubborn ass just let it be?     But in the end I was still running, still running like always. So much regrets filled my heart and a lot of times I would rethink of leaving him and just go back. But, it wasn't something I was permitted to do, because in that tone of his, he firmly sounded like he wanted me to stay alive.     And my pack members. How they have always been loyal and devoted to me all these years, yet manipulated just like that?! I bit down on my teeth until I tasted blood, f**k the king and his cruel ways. Although I couldn't do anything about it right now, I vowed that this wasn't over. I had to carry on a bit more for Drake and Sarah.      I wanted this whole war to end.     Shifting into my wolf was a terrible idea because we were both exhausted from the dueling back at the kingdom. I never anticipated a counter attack like that, how was I supposed to strategize against the royal alpha power? Mind suppression. What a coward ass power.     ''We're almost there.'' panted my wolf, she was weak and I could tell she was beginning to fail her transformation. But I urged her to push on, we had to tell Sarah.     ''And then what?'' she gasped for air.     I- I don't know.      How would Sarah take the news? I for one would understand that she would prefer Drake to be there instead of me. But as we entered through the gate of the Silverbane pack we hurried into the hotel they were staying in and I burst through the door.     There, in the living room, sat Sarah and her two best friends. They were alerted at once at my intrusion, but the only one who wasn't moved was the luna herself. She looked incredibly pale, her face shown no emotions, but those eyes... it was as if she had saw everything.     ''Sarah,'' I could barely keep myself standing so I leaned against the door post, ''Drake...'' I couldn't breathe.     ''He's not coming.'' I heard her say, completing my sentence.     Doubt was something I always wanted to prove wrong to her, but in this case it was true. Drake wasn't coming. And I don't know what happened to him.     No one moved an inch, they stayed in their positions. Adam and Derrick didn't know what to do, but stayed by her side.     See Drake? She has so many people looking after her, why couldn't you just...     I felt my whole body fall to the ground. I was at my limits. My wolf could barely breathe, we did not have a mate of our own to heal our wounds and rejuvenate our energy. Despite all that pros I wondered how Sarah now felt without hers. To be that grim and lifeless, maybe it was best that I never found mine.     Maybe I was destined to never have one to begin with. I was fine with that, all my motives revolved around making Drake happy, even if it wasn't to be with me. I thought I knew that I had loved him, but my soul only desired to protect him.      I can feel my rugged body being lifted from the floor, but my eyes wouldn't open, my breathing was very faint. I can hear some voices and felt a pinch within my arm, ah... I'm at a hospital. They must be injecting some tubes into my tattered body, but I don't hear Sarah anywhere!     No! I can't be here. I need to be with Sarah!     Because one thing was clear, there was an alpha she wolf who was after her. I didn't know her name, but her soul was as jet black as her hair. Despite my will to fight on my body gave out and I felt myself falling into darkness.      Please be okay Drake.
