50 They must’ve thought he was stupid. How could they possibly think he wouldn’t notice them? They couldn’t have looked more obvious if they tried. If they were there as a visual deterrent, it could be argued they might be successful. But he wasn’t going to be deterred. He’d been ultra-aware of his surroundings for some time now, and felt both humoured and angry at seeing the man and woman sitting in an unmarked BMW down the road from Sophie’s mum’s house. Did they really think he was thick enough to not notice them? It was almost insulting. The good news, though, was that they didn’t seem to have noticed him.
