49 Caroline pulled into the entry road for the police station and noticed a woman standing in front of the gate, blocking her entry. Seeing the steely look in the woman’s eye and knowing she wasn’t about to move, Caroline turned the car engine off and stepped out onto the path. As she did so, a Ford Focus crawled along Station Road behind her. ‘Excuse me, this area needs to be kept clear. It’s an entry and exit point for emergency police vehicles.’ The woman smiled and held out her hand. ‘Leah MacGregor. Rutland and Stamford Mercury.
