Caroline had seen enough of hospitals lately. Still, she was thankful to be visiting one on a work call rather than having to be here for her own health reasons.
En route to the hospital, Dexter received a call from Sara Henshaw, who had an update on Alex Lawson. Sophie had specifically asked the police and paramedics not to contact Alex last night, saying they’d had a disagreement and she didn’t want him there. By the morning, though, she’d changed her mind. Officers had gone round to his house early that day to let him know his wife had been injured, but he’d already left for work.
