Caroline and Dexter had left the hospital knowing they had to leave the surveillance and safety of Sophie, Alex and Charlie up to EMSOU’s specialist team. After all, that’s what they were there for, and the Rutland officers had to focus on the job in hand: identifying and apprehending the person who’d killed Tom Medland, Guy Sherman and Megan Wilkes, and tried to kill Sophie Lawson.
Caroline looked at her watch as she waited outside the council offices on Catmos Street, where they’d arranged to hold the press conference. She couldn’t believe it was barely eleven o’clock in the morning. She shuddered as she thought what the next few hours might bring.
