Day 17

Joanna

Everyone is doing good I have started going clubbing every night to relieve stress. The guys on this boat are so eager it makes it fun to tease them. Beth and Dylan are going with me tonight.

We are sitting in the game room watching Dylan play dance dance revolution. Beth joined her and is destroying her.

" Wow she is good"

" Um yes she is Sire it's her favorite game"

" Can we talk?"

I nod and we walk out of the gameroom to the snackbar.

" So what's up my King"

" Call me Connor, I just want to chat with an old warriors daughter"

I smile

" Checking in on me are you?"

He shrugs

" I like to know about the people around me"

" So my father was your father's warrior what's your point?"

" Ever talk to your brother?"

I shake my head

" I have seen him as one of your guards but I doubt he even knows what I look like anymore"

" You would be surprised about a siblings love Joanna"

" So why did you leave my kingdom?"

" Because I didn't agree with your tactics"

He nods

" Not sure I ever did either, I really messed up back then."

" Yeah you did but you are trying to make up for it by this cruise so that matters."

" Does it? I'm not even sure anymore people are fighting all the time and I have had hundreds jump ship and be replaced with other people"

" They are jumping ship because they found their mates not because you are doing something wrong"

He smiles

" Maybe"

" Your not talking to me for pleasantries so what do you want to know?"

" MaryBeth"

" I knew it"

" What about her?"

" How do I win her over?"

" You don't Beth is simple and independent she doesn't want a man complicating her life"

He raises an eyebrow

" Meaning?"

" Meaning she would rather sit in her room listening to music and reading then party or be around a lot of people"

" She doesn't trust easy and she is really good at reading peoples intentions"

" What's her favorite author?"

" Dani Steele, she also likes Daffodils and Berkin bags but buying her things won't get you far"

" It will get me somewhere that is what matters"

I nod

" This was great Connor and thanks for the drink but I suggest you just chase someone else"

" Wait, Jo I meant what I said about a siblings love"

He waves his hand and I turn around

" Hi JoJo Bean"

I gulp and smother him in a huge hug

" Hi Austie"

" I missed you Jo"

" I missed you two"

" Can we talk?"

I nod

" Just let me tell my friends"

Dylan finally gave up playing against me when she got tired of loosing.

" One more round Dilee"

" Not happening b***h"

I stick my tongue out at her

" You suck, now who am I suppose to play against"

" I'll play"

I raise my eyebrow

" No offense Your highness but do you even know how?"

" You'd be surprised at what I know how to do MaryBeth"

" And it's Conner to you baby"

" Fine, but stay on your side and body parts to yourself"

He nods

" Whatever you say"

I start the game and we start dancing. I watch his moves for a few rounds then make my move I start winning and he chuckles. Then ups me how is he doing that I am the best at this. After 18 rounds he totally won and I smile.

" Okay I give you props, you got moves"

He smiles

" You have no idea baby"

I take a sharp breath

" Have a good day Connor I had fun thanks"

He smiles

" Your welcome, I guess"

" See you at dinner"

I grab Dylan's hand and we walk away

" He really likes you"

" Yeah right now but you know it is too dangerous"

" He looked in to our backgrounds MaryBeth what if he found yours?'

" He didn't or he would have confronted me by now Dylee"

She nods

" Maybe, just worried about it"

" Don't be as far as anyone knows MaryBeth Ling is just your typical day walker"

" But if he finds out"

" He won't that name was wiped from existence now drop it"

I know she is worried he will find out my real name is Kitana MaryBeth LingLing but that name was wiped away the day my people died that day I became MaryBeth Stella Ling. Stella was my mothers name and it made me feel like I had a piece of her.

We go about our day joining Jo and Quinn in the sauna

" So how does being mated feel"

" Amazing, I never thought I wanted this but I don't want him just because of the bond he truly makes me happy and cares about me you know?"

I nod

" I know I trust him"

Dylan: " He is a really good guy Quinny, I am happy for the both of you"

Jo: " He is so serious sometimes"

Quinn giggles

" I know he completes my carefree outlook perfectly"

" That he does Quinny"

" Have you guys decided what you are doing after the cruise?"

" Going back home with you guys, he knows I can't leave you. Your my family"

Dylan: " Your ours Quinny always"

" Speaking of family how is Austin?"

" Loyal to a fault just like my father"

" Well we knew that"

She nods

" Yeah we did his mate is a really nice guy but also super loyal"

" Come on let's get ready for dinner"

We go to our rooms and I decide to put on a little makeup and put my hair down in curls.

Jo smiles when I come out

" Trying to impress someone"

" Maybe, he seems different then I thought Jo"

" Doesn't make him any less of a killer Beth we still don't know what he wants with LingLing Island"

I nod

" I know or why he is looking for survivors"

" Just be careful, don't let the bastard touch you"

" I won't Jo I promise"

We go to dinner and Conner looks like he is in a really foul mood tonight. We sit down and say hello and he waves not saying anything.

After the main course I finally speak up

" Hey Connor what's wrong?"

" It's nothing MaryBeth"

" Doesn't seem like nothing"

" Just problems with the ship it's fine"

" What kind of problems?"

" Why? Are you a ship expert?"

" No, but I can hold my own what's wrong?"

" Our fuel is low and we arn't sure if we can make it to the port 3 days away because there was a leak"

" The leak is patched?"

" Yeah"

" So reroute your fuel output"

" What?"

" You are routing your output to 3 different engines"

" If you lower it to 2 then it will save gas, you won't be able to stop for people to play but you will make it to port maybe a few hours late"

He looks at me

" Your sure that would work?"

" Yeah I'm sure just run your two outer engines the middle is the one that takes the most fuel"

" How do you even know this?"

" I helped build ships when they first started using fossil fuels, Jo and I where mechanics for a while"

" Hmm, I didn't know that"

I raise my eyebrow

" Why would you ?"

" I have dug through most of your history that wasn't in there"

" Oh I know you have and it was you just blew it off because it just says engineer"

" I thought that was at the car factory"

" Nope there are 2 listings, one for the car factory and one for the ship manufacturer"

" So you where a mechanic?"

" Yes"

" But you hate germs"

" Grease isn't germs infact it is the opposite it repels them"

He smiles

" Thanks for the help I will go talk to the captain"

" Your welcome have a good night"

He stands up

" Oh, MaryBeth"

" Huh?"

" You look Beautiful with your hair down"

I smile at him and he turns and walks off leaving his jacket behind.

We get ready for the club and someone knocks on the door.

" Who is that?"

" A surprise"

Jo opens the door and Jake comes in holding his Jacket.

" Oh Goddess you guys did not just steal that"

Jake chuckles

" Relax they took it to be laundered you can at least use it for a few days before anyone notices"

I grab it wrapping it around me and Inhaling the heaven of his scent.

" Thank you"

He nods

" Dylan's Idea princess"

I look at Dylan and she nods at me, now I really don't want to go anywhere but bed and wrap up in this thing. Jo grabs it from me throwing it on the couch.

" Party now sulk in peace later"

I giggle and we head out to the club, We dance for a while Quinn and Jake joined us Jake and Dylan are being a bouncer for Quinn and I and Jo is enjoying the attention. I walk to the bar and get a drink.

" Don't see you here much"

I smile turning toward him

" Because I don't like all the attention"

" Right germ thing"

I nod

" Yeah germ thing, but also because I would rather be reading or listening to my own kind of music"

" Like what?"

" Um like underground Indie artist"

" Such as?"

" Melanie Martinez for one"

" Never heard of her"

I nod

" I know"

The bartender finally comes over

" Hello Your Highness what can I get you?"

" Gin and Tonic and whatever she is having for the rest of the night, Her friends as well"

I look at him

" Connor you don't have to do that"

" I want to MaryBeth just order your drink Baby"

" Cranberry and Vodka on the rocks"

He nods and gets our drinks

" A vodka drinker huh?"

" Yes, I like the bite"

" I can give you a bite MaryBeth"

I roll my eyes

" Don't start Your Royal Pain"

He laughs

" Have a good nigh MaryBeth"

" You two"

He walks off toward his friends as mine come over.

" We are on Conner's tab tonight I Guess"

They all order drinks and we sit and enjoy each others company just dancing and having fun we get back to the room around 2am. I grab Conner's jacket and lay it on my bed taking a shower than wrapping myself in his scent.
