I groan waking up hearing sweet snores from the other side of the phone.
" Connor"
" Mmm five minutes"
" Conor wake up meet me for breakfast"
" No just come climb in bed with me"
I sigh looking at the video chat
" Please"
He grabs the phone looking at me
" Can I ask you something?"
" Of course"
" Why won't you trust me don't get me wrong Marybeth knowing your presence is there is nice but I want to hold you"
I close my eyes taking a deep breath
" I'm damaged goods Connor you don't want me you want what you see"
" Your right I do I want the careless dancer the person that would do anything for her make shift family the sweet little smile that makes my heart melt. The bookworm that has a very rare taste in music. The sweet little snores and groans when you sleep. I want you Marybeth I'm damaged too I know I can make you happy if you give me a chance"
I gulp the only thing I want is for him to hold me but I know it will change everything
" I can't I just need time I like talking to you Connor and spending time with you but I have boundaries for reasons"
" So tell me those reasons"
" Because getting to close is dangerous just give me some time please"

" So breakfast?"
he chuckles
" I will be ready in 10"

He chuckles hanging up I sigh getting dressed and heading to breakfast. After we head to the gym then the girls and I spend some much needed time by the pool.

" Hmm"
" Are you sure you can hold out?"
I close my eyes trying not to break at Lilah's question
" Honestly no not even a little but I have to for the sake of not dying"
After a while they get up going to the pool and I sit there reading my book.
" Hey hottie"
I roll my eyes looking up
" Yeah wrong tree move on"
" Oh right your the I'm too good for everyone girl right?"

he lunges jumping on me
" You think your so high and mighty don't you?"
" GET OFF!"
He has me pinned under him
" What so special about you huh? The king wants some peace bullshit and keeps chasing you! He wants peace he needs to stop chasing a girl.!"

He moves his fangs instantly sinking in my skin I start screaming as my light starts blinding him. I feel his body lift from me

I feel myself get scooped up and look at Ondele

he takes us to the room laying me on the couch I curl in a ball.
" MARYBETH!!"
The door to our suite is slammed open to Connor I turn staring at him and he is breathing heavily
" Sh*t baby are you okay?"
I nod not wanting to form words
" I'm so sorry he did that he is one of my scouts he thinks he can do what he wants"
" Scouts?"
He sighs moving to sit beside me
" Look I have to be honest here I have multiple notices for this cruise"
" So unity isn't one?"
" No it is just... About 50 years ago there was an incident someone said they spotted a sprite and so I want to go to LingLing island to find out if anyone survived I'm praying someone did"
" You want a survivor but why?'
" Because I can't change what I did Beth but maybe I can make it right maybe I can at least give the remaining spritlings hope and help to rebuild I really messed up I know that but I don't think they are all bad the one that was spotted was helping a dragon"

" Oh okay? How um how is your Scout doing?"
" He's fine I'm more worried about you"

" He said yes u burned him I um I've never seen your gift is that it incinerate?"

He sighs staring at me I want to crawl in his arms tell him everything will be okay but I know I can't.
" I um have to go check on some threats from hunters around the faye kingdoms I will be gone for a week"
I look down nodding
" So I won't hear from you"
" What no I will call you every night just I wish you would come with me"
" Um yeah no sorry but did you not just hear me say light concentration I will burn a fleabag faye if needed"
he chuckles
" Look I agree they are far from appealing with the attitude of how much better they are with their stupid little wings and I can shrink and fly bs"
" Wait what? What's wrong with shrinking and flying?"
" Nothing just they think they are better because of it"
" Okay? well not all creatures who can fly think they are better than everyone some just want to live peaceful lives"
" I agree dragons are peaceful and I'm sure the sprites where better than the way Faye act but it doesn't matter because even if I get to the island I will never know what is there"

he gets up digging in his pocket
" Beg re I forget here is the key to my room in case you get lonely or miss me"
I bite my lip smiling

he sets it on the counter leaving I sigh laying back I mean he's right Faye thinks they are so much better than everyone else.
