Cruise of Beast

Day 2

Joanna

I stayed with Beth all night apparently the king has a s*x drive because she woke up in pain twice downing more alcohol just to pass out again. We skipped breakfast and get up after 1pm to go grab a snack. Beth is hungover and in a really grumpy mood.

" Maybe we should skip activities today"

She shakes her head

" Absolutely not, I am now determined to have a good time and he will not stop me from that."

We eat and head to the gym the other girls join us I look at Quinn

" What no side kick?"

She flips me off

" Funny b***h, he went to hang out with his friends"

I nod and we all get on the treadmills. There are 500 beasts on this cruise and apparently 2 of them have already put claim to some of my girls. One doesn't know it and for the sake of him and her I hope he never does.

Dylan looks at me

" How was she last night?"

" Upset, but that's a given we will get her through it"

She nods

" We can do anything as a family and this ain't nothin but a thing"

We start sparing and the girls join us we get some onlookers and I notice one in particular as Beth spars with Quinn. One of the kings men that was at the pool yesterday. We wrap up and head out.

" Excuse me ma'am" He grabs Beth's arm

Beth jerks away

" Don't touch me"

" Oh sorry, um the King has requested you and your friends join him at his table tonight"

She rolls her eyes

" Tell the king we are good at our own thank you for the offer"

He nods and walks off we all go get ready for dinner we are going to the onboard club tonight after. We walk downstairs and to the dining hall a waiter leads us to the king's table.

I stare at her

" I'm sorry this is not our table"

" The King insisted you ladies sit with him tonight"

Beth: " I already said no to his request sit us somewhere else"

Connor: " It isn't a request Beth it is an order take your seat"

She huffs sitting down and we all sit around her.

" So tell me Joanna how long have all of you been together?"

" MaryBeth and I have been together for 400 years Dylan 5 and Quinn 2"

" And the other bear"

" New addition as of yesterday"

He nods

" Nice to know, MaryBeth is it?"

She nods

" Yes your Highness"

" How old are you ?"

" 419 Sir"

" My guard said your sparing skills where impressive"

She nods

" Thank you sir"

I take the attention off of her

" Your Highness why did you create this cruise"

He smiles

" For so many centuries all our species have done is fight each other I would like to change that"

Beth huffs and I hit her shoulder

" Something funny about that MaryBeth"

Beth

" Not at all sir"

" Anyways we have all made mistakes in the past and I am hoping to work through them and create new alliance"

I huff again

" Mistakes?"

" I'm sorry you took out an entire species how is that just a mistake?"

" I have a past that I am not proud of MaryBeth but I have grown since then"

" Did you ever regret, I mean all those innocent lives that you took for no just cause"

He huffs

" Just cause?"

" You are a vampire MaryBeth my people of all creatures should understand that the sprites where dangerous creatures"

I nod I know if I say more it will only fuel the anger I want to explode in his direction.

" But to answer your question Yes I do regret what I did I am sure there were sprites with no bad intentions. But that doesn't make the fact of how dangerous they where any less prominent."

I nod

" I understand sir" Honestly I don't understand at all my people where peaceful and full of light. It isn't our fault our blood is so addictive to vampires. One drop from us and they will suck us dry making our essence transfer to them driving them insane and blood crazed savages.

We finish dinner and go our separate ways getting ready to go to the club.

" Are you insane Beth why would you ask him that?"

" I watched my family die Jo, we never harmed anyone on purpose"

She nods

" I know okay but don't bring up the subject again he might get suspicious"

"Technically you brought it up I was just stating a point"

" Well don't I have a feeling he isn't going to leave us alone just be careful"

I nod and get up heading out the door to meet the girls. Connor walks out of his room and smiles at us.

" Ladies" Why does he have to look so perfect he has bright green eyes a pearl white smile the shirt he is wearing shows off his rock hard ironing board abs. He is so tall and bruty goddess I want to attack the man and be damned of the consequences.

Jo nudges me I guess I am staring

" Oh I'm sorry sire"

He chuckles

"Like what you see MaryBeth?"

I inhale sharply and he chuckles

" You could always skip the club and join me in my room"

Fuck why did he have to say that I shake my head

" I'm good your Highness I don't touch people only my friends"

He smiles and walks off I whisper

" f**k he's hot"

Jo giggles

" No touching princess you will get us all in trouble"

I sigh and Dylan, Quinn and Jacob walk up to us

Dylan: " Ready girls?"

We nod and head to the club, I try to ignore the women all over Connor and I succeed until he disappears with one of them. I start drinking heavily as the pain starts hitting me again.

Jacob: " I have something for that you know"

I look at him wide eyed

" For what exactly?"

" Quinn isn't my first mate I was rejected before I know what it looks like to feel the bond being betrayed"

" Obviously you have met the guy so why hasn't he done anything about it?"

I shake my head

" He doesn't know"

" He has to your scent would be intoxicating"

" Maybe we should all go back to my suite and you can grab whatever it is you have to help"

He nods and gather's up the girls from the dancefloor we get back to the suite and wait for Jacob to come back.

Dylan: " Are you crazy we don't know him"

Jo nods

" She is right telling him your secret could be bad for all of us"

I sigh

" Relax guys his intentions are pure with Quinn and he would never betray those she holds dearest"

Quinn: " I really hate when you read people"

Jo laughs

" Seriously, not like any of us have ever been able to lie to her"

Jacob knocks and Quinn opens the door. He throws a bottle at me.

" One of those will have you dead to the world for at least 8 hours"

I nod

" Thank you Jacob please have a seat"

He sits down pulling Quinn on his lap

" Now before I tell you something that is going to blow your mind and make you part of this little tribe. I want to know about your secret"

" What secret?"

" Your first mate"

Quinn looks at him

" Your what now?"

He sighs

" It was a long time ago, I was 17 just able to find my mate. I was the awkward kid that had no friends and no life outside of warrior training and duties."

" My mate was the Gamma's daughter she knew we where mates, instead of just giving me what I asked for and rejecting me right away she drug it out for months. She would pull me into private rooms and do things then return to her daily life as the Alpha's girlfriend. I was stuck watching them love each other the way I wanted to love her. The Alpha knew she was my mate and even ridiculed me for it making me his personal guard. After 4 months of torture she found out she was pregnant she made me use a condom and wouldn't come near me during her heat so I knew it was his. She finally rejected me, I swore to myself that day if I ever got a second chance I would hang on to it as hard as I could. I left my Sleuth to find another and find a new beginning that is why I came on this cruise for a new beginning"

Quinn kisses him

" Why didn't you tell me?"

" Does it matter you want to reject me two"

She sighs

" I have my own issues Jake but we can talk about it later"

He nods and I smile

" Do you remember my questions at dinner?"

" About the sprites?"

I nod

" Yeah what about them, their dead"

Dylan sighs

" Not all of them"

He raises his eyebrow

" Meaning what?"

I decide the easiest way to explain things is to shift. I shift and fly Infront of his face. He reaches out to touch me and I touch his hand lighting his spark and his bear comes forward.

" Oh s**t that's cool"

I laugh and shift back

" You um still have wings"

I laugh

" They will go away in a minute"

He nods

" So some of you survived?"

I shake my head

" Not some, just one"

" Your secret is safe with me Beth but what does this have to do with mates?"

Jo explains about spriteling mates and the difference between us and everyone else and who my mate is.

" So if he touches you and doesn't acknowledge you your dead?"

I nod

" I have to stay away from him as much as possible, we are going to be close to LingLing Island in 3 months I am hoping to fly there and see if I can find a way to sever the bond"

" I got your back" The pain starts hitting my stomach again and I double over.

Dylan grabs the pills and hands me one.

" Jake can you get more of these?"

He nods

" Yeah I know someone is Falsetto that can get some we dock there in 7 days"

They nod and I sit down my world going fuzzy

" We might want to get her to bed"

Everything finally goes black as I feel my head hit someone's hands.

QUINN

We get Beth to bed and call it a night

" So what was in those pills?"

" Mostly melatonin a few other sedatives and Tylenol"

I nod

" I owe you an explanation"

He smiles

" That would be nice yes"

We walk in the room and sit on the bed and I crawl in his lap. His touch gives me comfort and telling him the truth I am going to need it.

" When I was 15 my Sleuth was attacked, my parents and I where taken by slave traitors."

" We all got sold together, my mom and dad didn't associate with me once we got to our new master."

" They would say it was for my protection but it hurt not having them to lean on."

" My mother got in trouble after a few months, my father stood up for her they fought for their lives that day I watched as the mate bond that told them to love each other tore my family apart inch by inch."

" After they were killed the master made a deal with me if I was his s*x slave for 6 months he would give me freedom."

" I agreed because I didn't want to be a slave for the rest of my life"

" He tied me up he would beat me and rape me daily multiple times. He would always call me Dandelion and scream at me asking why I never wanted him."

" Six months came and went and he never released me."

" He was killed a few months later and I was set free, I found out that Dandelion was what he called his mate. She betrayed their bond and fell in love with another man mating him."

" I knew then how bad the bond really can break you, I am scared of it and I don't want to be defined by something that is supposed to control my fate so easily."

He kisses me and wipes my stray tears

" So we won't let it, I am just as scared about this as you are Quinn. We will take things as slow as both of us need to but I refuse to stop holding you"

I smile

" I refuse to stop kissing you Jake"

He pulls me in a kiss and flips me onto the bed we stay locked in kisses for a while before he gets up and showers. I take one after him and crawl on his chest falling asleep.
