Untitled Episode
Once Raghavan's friend was also going on a long journey. On their way they had to cross a small river, over which there was an old bridge, so narrow that only one person could cross at a time, and decayed with time.
When they reached there, Raghavan crossed safely. But when his friend was about to cross the bridge, he lost his footing and fell into the water.
Raghavan immediately leaned down and extended his hand towards his friend to help him. His friend quickly grabbed his hand and Raghavan started pulling his friend ashore.
Raghavan was holding his friend's hand and pulling him to the shore. The friend felt grateful to Raghavan and said, "Friend, thank you for saving my life." He was hastily promised a large sum of money as a reward for saving his life.Thank you..!” Raghavan angrily replied. Then he let go of his hand and his friend splashed away and went back into the water.
The friend was almost at the shore, so with little effort he finally reached the shore where Raghavan was standing.
Shocked by Raghavan's act, his friend asked, "Why did you do that?"
Raghavan smiled and replied, "To get my reward that he promised me."
The friend said, "But.. you could have waited until I was safely out of the water.."
Raghavan retorted, “Of course.. but couldn't you have waited to reach the land from the water..??”
Raghavan's friend realized that Raghavan was hasty in making promises and that it was wrong for friends to help each other for material gains and to promise rewards. Apologizes to Raghavan and thanks him for saving him and instilling good wisdom in him.
