Chapter 14

Killian's pov "Alpha Killian, you really didn't have to drive me here...." She said again for the tenth million time. I couldn't take it anymore soI just ended up rolling my eyes and telling her that if I didn't drive her here, she might get entangled in some other fiasco that was in the other day and I would end up having to save her again. "I promise that won't ever happen again, I feel like I'm stressing you out." If only she knew how much her mere presence was stressing me out. Maybe I would’ve let her take a cab here, if she hadn’t gone all mushy while talking about her close male friend. "Hmmm, is someone jelly?" I almost hit the brakes when Rex dropped that ridiculous theory, but forced myself to keep driving smoothly. "Me? Jealous? Over an omega? Please. Not in this lifetime and not in a million years," I shot back, rolling to a stop at the red light, my denial sharp enough to cut glass. I glanced at her from the corner of my eye. She was dressed casually, out of her maid uniform, in a bulky dress that swallowed her whole and hid every curve. And yet, I was losing my mind, the tightness in my pants becoming unbearable. Just being alone with her was pushing me over the edge. "I think I need to see a doctor," I muttered aloud, and she immediately turned her head toward me. "Are you sick, Alpha Killian?" Before I could answer, her palm pressed lightly to my forehead, then the other to her own as she murmured under her breath, "No... your temperature seems normal." My heart nearly jumped out of my chest. What was she doing? Was she trying to get us into an accident? "Mrs. Woods!" I barked, my tone sharp. She took her time pulling away, as if only just realizing what she was doing to me. Or maybe not, because she didn’t look nearly as guilty as she should have. "I’m sorry about that... I guess it was more of a reflex." "Were you a nurse or something before?" I asked, eyes flicking back to the road. She shook her head, replying softly, "I just got used to taking care of everyone." "Maybe you should ask her if she would like to talk about it," Rex suggested, "it looks like she might want to let something out," I refused that completely. it was true that I did a background check on her but that was only to make sure that she was going to be a good worker, and I had already confirmed that, so I didn't need to know anymore unnecessary information involving things that could make me feel sympathetic and want to know even more about her. I had resolved this in my mind, but Rex kept pestering me to ask questions I didn’t need to. "I know I refused at first, but I'm really glad that you ended up driving me. I'm still worried that I might run into my ex-mate," That was enough to nearly cause a full-on collision, if not for my years of driving experience that let me swerve out of the lane at the last second. Her eyes went wide as she asked what happened, and I took a moment to catch my breath before asking, "What do you mean? Is he still living in the city?" She was hesitant at first but then admitted that he was still living in the city. He was also the person that had arrested her in the first place. I had barely taken notes of the man, I had just assumed that he was a busy body who was going out of his way to make life difficult for somebody he thought he could walk all over. But to think he was the free loader that she had been with all these time.... Now that I think about it he really matched the description of her partner perfectly. She must have terrible taste. And maybe this guy she was about to meet with, may also be a walking piece of trash too. Perhaps I shouldn't even let her see him at all. I was having this roller coaster of thoughts in my head when she suddenly asked me to park. I did so, and looked out. We were in front of a popular cafe called crescent moon cafe, the ambience of the place was cozy but I didn't make me feel comfortable. My discomfort only intensified when I saw her maneuvering her way expertly through the tables and then into the arms of an unfamiliar man. "Lucas, how have you been?" I thought I was about to lose my mind when I saw her hold him, then it got even worse when he was about to reciprocate it, and I immediately stepped forward. "I would like to make an order," It was rather childish, especially coming from me an Alpha. She just wanted to hug her friend and that was none of my business, but I don't know why I immediately got all up in arms about it. I knew that it was definitely the wrong move immediately Rex backed me up, supporting me all the way. "Who does he think he is to hug her like that so casually? The nerve..." We sat together and she immediately gave me a strange look, then she leaned over, pressing her hands on the table and at the same time, The neckline of her dress lowered, exposing her voluptuous assets...yeesh, didn't they give her back ache? It would be easier if I helped her carry them ...what was i thinking?! Maybe there is really something wrong with me. "Alpha Killian?" I snapped back to reality as she called me, "Do you have something against Lucas?”
