Chapter Three

The journey from the house to Jackson mom’s shop is really not far, practically just down the road, I kept greeting the neighbors while walking,
“Is there a way to become invincible so I don’t have to continue greeting, I thought to myself and laughed.
The vibration from my back pocket shocked me
Shit! What’s that?
I had forgotten I kept my phone there, I reached out to it and looked at my phone,
Goodness! It’s Abigail.
Abigail is a friend I have known since I was little, we know everything about each other and I have not had any other friend since then, something of a close family friend.
But funny enough she is from a very wealthy family and she is the only child too.
“Hey” I picked up immediately
“Where are you? you sound like you are walking” Abigail asked
“ Well, my mom sent me to get something down the road, now I am jobless, I am her errand girl,” I said sadly.
“ I am so sorry about that, you must feel bored, maybe I will come over after work today” Abigail said.
“ that would be so sweet, boredom is getting the worse of me” I smiled happily.
“ Talking about being jobless, I thought you applied to some companies yesterday, still no response?”
“ I did and it is frustrating I have not heard anything,”
“I kind of heard about a job vacancy,”
“Are you being serious” I jumped happily.
“don’t get excited yet because I am not so sure but it think it is something about employing new recruits especially in the marketing department and the pay is good too, what do you think?”
“That sounds awesome, where?”
“ Bexley publishing”
“ is that not a big company, I mean I have never imagined applying to a company like that,” I said while switching the phone to the other ear.
“ I know but are you in or not, let me send you the details, I know someone there” Abigail said immediately
“ of course I am, I am desperate right now, when is the interview?”
“On Monday, by 8 in the morning make sure you are there, it would be somewhat crowded you know, and dress well too. Oh! I just remembered I would be coming this evening, maybe I would help with that too.”
“ You are such a darling” I said happily making kiss sounds for her to hear.
“Stop please” she said laughing and cut the call.
I was so happy that when I got to my destination I bought the frozen foods and headed back home to tell my mom.
“ Mom, something just happened,” I entered the shop smiling.
Admist the customers, she asked
“ what is going on? You seem happy.”
“Abby just told me about a job vacancy and I have an interview tomorrow sincerely I feel good about this” I said still smiling.
“ That is good then, you would have to get ready but that is for later, help me attend to customers for now, okay?”
“ Okay mom”
I retreated to the help in the shop without complain because I felt so excited.

Walking into the airport majestically, Mr Nicholas kept a straight face, he just had a long flight and definitely needed some rest, he bashed into a lady who bent down to pick what fell from her hand.
“Hey watch where you are going” she said without looking up at him, immediately she stood up she looked at him in awe
“ wow, he looks so good, how can a man be this handsome, look at his height” she thought to herself
“Please excuse me” he just responded back without looking at her, facing front.
She hurried up to him and touched him
“Please could we connect, I mean through phone, I believe that would be great” she said to him smiling.
He looked at her hand and followed it to her face, she removed her hands immediately from his, she is a woman possibly in her 20s and also not his type.
“ please excuse me” he repeated again walking away.
She paused, shocked at his response and definitely embarrassed
“ who does he think he is to embarrass me this way”
Just then Daniel came behind her and said
“ I am sorry about that please, do not take it serious”
He smiled and walked up to Nicholas,
“ why did you have to react that way to her”
“That is not important right now, we are about to meet my grandfather and you obviously know how he is” Nicholas said

They got home and of course, the stewards and scullions all lined up at the entrance to welcome him home, his grandfather was standing smiling up at him,
“ You really did not have to do all this” Nicholas said.
“Why not, no one is more excited to see you back home” his grandfather replied hugging him.
“ you look slim you really need to eat” he said surveying Nicholas.
“Daniel so good to see you too” he hugged Daniel too
“ Good day Chiarman”
“ I have told you you can call me grandfather”
Daniel just smiled and looked down.
They headed to the dining table and ate, while eating Nicholas was asking the health of the company over here.
“How is everything here, I heard there was some cutback on the companies profits this year, what is that about” Nicholas asked concerned.
“ Yes, about that, it is another reason you are here, by Monday, you are going to be appointed as the new President of the company”
Nicholas looked shocked at his grandfather, so did Daniel,
“I thought you said you were going to get professionals in management to deal with that?” Daniel asked.
“Yes but since Nicholas has so much experience about it, I thought he should be the president and he did a good job at our branch in Milan, would you not agree Daniel?”
He asked while facing his direction to Daniel.
“Yes of course sir” he answered promptly.
Nicholas smiled and said “ well, we are all aware that there is no project I am given I would not succeed at”
“You have today and tomorrow to rest before Monday, I hope that would be enough for you?”
His grandfather asked
“Of course it would”. Nicholas replied while still eating.
