Max hurried back to Merrihaven. The glowing red orb moved with him above his head and cast eerie shadows on the tunnel walls. What would he tell the aunts or his grandparents? By now they knew he was gone. Would he share the information from Bertha and Wunder’s plan to fight Isolde alone? There was no way he could let the half-giant go to Dunmere by himself.
