Chapter 11
Nadia was helping Melanie prepare their evening meal when Harry, who had been in his office talking business with his brother on Skype, came running into the kitchen holding his mobile phone.
'It's Julia! She's escaped!'
Nadia took the phone from him. 'Julia?'
'Mummy! Mummy! It's me!'
'Where are you?'
'Mr Noble wants to talk to you, Mum.'
Nadia waited.
'Hello, Mrs Ryan,' said an elderly male voice. 'This is Clive Noble. We wanted you to know that she's safe. She's a lovely girl. You should be proud of her.'
'We are,' said Nadia.
'I've called the police. They're sending someone to collect her and bring her home to you,' said Clive.
'Thank you, Mr Noble,' said Nadia, wondering how an old man could have rescued Julia from someone like Sam. 'How did she end up with you?'
