Chapter 8 It was dark by the time the man stopped the car next to an old farmhouse. Julia peered into the darkness through the side window of the car. She had no idea where she was and hoped the man wouldn't do any of those things her mother had told her strangers did to little girls. 'Okay, Julia. This is where we are staying,' said the man, opening the car door and switching on the light in the carport. He placed his hand on the lever at the base of his seat and it flipped forward onto the steering wheel. He leaned in and undid her seat belt. 'Come on, out you come.' He reached in, took hold of her hand and pulled her out of the car. 'You too, Butch.' The dog jumped out of the car and bounded away into the darkness.
