I ride.
I pray that I may arrive at Pemberley before Junkets and this letter reach you — I shall ride in fear for your safety, your reassurances (though greatly appreciated) notwithstanding.
That I did not foresee such evil in Elizabeth Coverly (whom I cannot call in any sense lady) shames me.
That I have allowed my beloved wife to come so near to mischief horrifies me.
That I may yet in some way help set this right is all that I can think to do, and so, as soon as I have handed this letter to Junkets, I will call for my own horses and ride through the night.
