Chapter 2: Unforgettable Eyes
Adrian Vale stood in the middle of the empty street, rain pouring over his expensive suit. His eyes searched every corner, but the mysterious girl was nowhere to be found.
“How is that possible?” he muttered.
No one could disappear that quickly.
He returned to his penthouse office, but for the first time, work could not distract him. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her silver gaze and heard her soft voice.
You’re lonelier than I thought, Adrian Vale.
He clenched his jaw.
Who was she?
The next morning, Adrian arrived at the company earlier than usual. His employees immediately straightened when they saw him. The cold aura around their CEO was stronger than ever.
“Leo,” Adrian called.
His assistant rushed forward. “Yes, sir?”
“Check the security cameras outside the building last night. Find the girl standing in the rain.”
Leo blinked in surprise but quickly nodded. “Right away, sir.”
An hour later, Leo returned looking nervous.
“Sir… I checked every camera.”
“And?”
“There was no girl.”
Adrian’s face darkened. “Impossible.”
“The footage only shows you walking outside alone… then standing there by yourself.”
Silence filled the office.
Adrian slowly looked out the window.
Had he imagined her?
No. He could still feel the warmth of her touch on his chest.
“Keep searching,” Adrian ordered coldly. “Hospitals, hotels, transport stations. I want to know who she is.”
“Yes, sir.”
That evening, Adrian left work later than usual. As he stepped into the parking garage, the lights suddenly flickered.
Then he heard a soft voice behind him.
“You’re working too hard again.”
He turned sharply.
There she was.
The mysterious girl stood beside a black pillar, dry and calm, wearing the same white dress. Her silver eyes shone in the darkness.
Adrian’s heart pounded.
“Who are you?” he demanded.
She smiled faintly. “Still asking the same question?”
“You vanished.”
“Maybe you just lost sight of me.”
He stepped closer. “What do you want?”
She looked at him for a long moment.
“To see if your heart can still feel.”
Before he could answer, footsteps echoed nearby.
When Adrian looked toward the sound and turned back—
She was gone again.
His fists tightened.
For the second time, the girl had appeared like a dream… and disappeared like smoke.
But Adrian Vale had made a decision.
No matter what it took—
He would find her.
