The Girl in the Rain
Chapter 1: The Girl in the Rain
The city never slept. Tall buildings touched the dark sky, their lights shining like stars trapped in glass. Cars moved endlessly below, horns blending with the sound of rain pouring over the streets.
At the top floor of the grandest building stood Adrian Vale, the youngest CEO in the country.
He was rich, powerful, and feared.
People called him the Cold CEO because he never smiled, never trusted anyone, and never cared for love. His sharp eyes could make grown men tremble. His voice was calm but dangerous.
Tonight, Adrian stood by the wide glass window of his office, looking down at the storm.
“Cancel tomorrow’s dinner meeting,” he said coldly.
His assistant, Leo, adjusted his glasses nervously. “Sir, it’s an important partnership.”
“I said cancel it.”
“Yes, sir.”
Leo quickly left the room. No one dared question Adrian Vale.
Adrian loosened his tie and sighed. Another meaningless day. Another room full of fake smiles and greedy people.
He hated them all.
Suddenly, lightning flashed across the sky.
And through the rain-covered window, Adrian noticed something strange.
A girl stood alone outside the building entrance.
She wore a simple white dress, now soaked by the heavy rain. Her long black hair clung to her face, but she did not move. She simply stood there, looking up at the towering building.
At him.
Adrian frowned.
Who was she?
Most people ran for shelter during storms, but this girl stood as if the rain could not touch her. There was something calm… something unreal about her.
Without understanding why, Adrian grabbed his coat and headed downstairs.
The guards at the entrance looked surprised when Adrian himself walked out into the storm.
Rain hit his shoulders as he approached the girl.
She turned slowly.
Adrian froze for a second.
Her face was breathtakingly beautiful, but it was her eyes that caught him—deep silver eyes that seemed to hold secrets older than time.
“Who are you?” Adrian asked sharply.
The girl tilted her head. “Does it matter?”
Her voice was soft, almost like music.
“No one stands outside my building in the middle of the night for no reason.”
A faint smile touched her lips.
“You’re lonelier than I thought, Adrian Vale.”
His expression darkened. “How do you know my name?”
“I know many things.”
Before he could speak again, thunder roared.
Then, without warning, the girl stepped closer and touched his chest lightly with her fingertips.
Adrian felt warmth spread through his body—something he had not felt in years.
His heart raced.
Impossible.
The cold CEO who never felt anything… was shaken by a single touch.
She leaned closer and whispered,
“We will meet again.”
Then she turned and walked into the rain.
“Wait!”
Adrian chased after her, but when he reached the corner of the street—
She was gone.
No footsteps. No shadow. Nothing.
Only the endless rain remained.
Adrian stood there, stunned.
For the first time in his life, something had escaped his control.
And for the first time…
His heart refused to stay cold.
