Stay With Me

Chapter 5: Stay With Me Luna still held Adrian’s injured hand, her fingers warm and gentle against his skin. The street was quiet again, but the danger in the air remained. “You should leave,” she said softly. “More people may come.” Adrian looked at the three unconscious men on the ground and then back at her. “Then come with me.” Luna stepped back. “No.” “That wasn’t a request.” A faint smile touched her lips. “There’s the cold CEO everyone fears.” “And yet you’re not afraid of me.” “I’m afraid for you.” Those words struck him harder than any enemy could. Adrian removed his coat and placed it over her shoulders. Luna looked surprised by the gesture. “You’re freezing,” he said. “I’m used to worse.” “Not anymore.” He guided her toward his car waiting nearby. His driver opened the door in shock, seeing a woman beside the CEO. “Take us home,” Adrian ordered. During the ride, silence filled the car. City lights passed outside the window like falling stars. Adrian glanced at Luna. “Who were those men?” “People from my past.” “What did you do?” “Nothing,” she answered quietly. “That’s why they want me.” He frowned. “That makes no sense.” “It will… one day.” When they arrived at Adrian’s mansion, Luna stared at the grand gates and shining gardens. “You live here alone?” “Yes.” “That sounds lonely.” Adrian said nothing. Inside, servants quickly prepared first aid. Adrian dismissed everyone and cleaned the wound himself. Luna watched him. “You don’t trust people much.” “No.” “But you trusted me enough to bring me here.” He met her gaze. “I’m still deciding if that was a mistake.” She laughed softly again. For a moment, the cold mansion felt warmer. Later that night, Adrian showed her a guest room. “You can stay here until morning.” Luna stood by the doorway. “Why are you helping me?” Adrian moved closer, his voice low and serious. “Because when you’re near me… this empty house feels alive.” Luna’s eyes widened. Before she could answer, a loud crash echoed downstairs. Both of them turned sharply. Someone had entered the mansion.
