Chapter 28

666 Words
JULIETTE     "Julie is that true that you have already—"   "YEAHHH" I shouted. The news escalated too fast and it already reached my friends' ears. God, how the hell did news spread so fast? Such a small detail about my every decision makes all of the people in Oltaire know of it.   "It's the nth time someone asks that same question," I said, with a hint of annoyance and frustration in my voice. Almost all of the people I pass by ask me that question repeatedly it's making my fist itch and punch someone.   "You are so meanie Julie, I only ask you because I heard it from my gossiping maid," Adelle said. We are currently in my garden and having tea. Adelle, me, and Liz. Good thing Liz hasn't asked me a single thing to actually make my day this annoying.   The thing that happened between me and my stepmom spread like fire. Everyone asked me if I really accepted my stepmom.   Adelle is the last one to ask the question for now.   "Well, I said yes it's true," I said with my furrowed eyebrows.   Soon after I felt a cold finger easing my furrowed eyebrows, it's Liz while smiling at me.   Haaa what a true angel...   "Don't frown, it does not fit your beautiful face, Julie." She warmly smiled at me. I nodded and thanked her and I continue to drink my tea.   "Oh Liz, your birthday is coming up right?" Adelle said. I turn to Liz and she seems a little bothered by it. Nonetheless, she nods and continues to drink quietly.   "I want to be invited," Adelle murmured enough for us three to hear.   "Of course I will invite you both. Both of you will be my special guest. She said and smiled." She's smiling but it doesn't reach her eyes. I just set aside my thought and we continue our time in the garden.   °°°   I adjusted my dress, it's black and white as per Liz's instruction of dress code. I went out of the mansion earlier than the time I need to be out. I want to fetch Adelle, knowing her, she must be sleeping until now.   It is such a bad day, it's raining that's why.   Elsie covered me with a fluffy coat and an umbrella before coming out of the carriage to get into the mansion.   "Please wait here and we will get ready the Lady." The maid Annie said. She's Adelle's maid and Elsie's friend now.   I smiled at the maid and allowed myself to seat comfortably on the sofa. Adelle owns this big mansion all for herself. It's not like I envy her, it's just I think it's too lonely to be here all alone with her maids.   I look around and there's a lot of paintings. I think it's Adelle's parents. A woman with mocha hair and a man with dirty blonde hair. Adelle inherited her mom's facial structures. Her green eyes are the only thing she inherited from his father.   The woman in the portrait looks so dominating. While the man looks so dead inside. Both of them look so cold.   "Aiya, why are you up so early?" I look at Adelle and she's already ready.     She's wearing an all-black dress and black boots, her mocha hair falling on her back. She doesn't like tying her hair at all. She always kept it down with no ornaments attached.   "Good, let's go."   We went outside, the maids carefully help us to get inside the carriage. When all is ready, the carriage began to move.   "Why are we dressed like this? It's not like I'm complaining but dressing like this on a very important happy day is just so unusual." She said, I nod at her because I have nothing to say.   I don't know why are we dressed like this but all I know is something is up. We just need to wait, when we get there. We'll know for sure...     (edited)
