JULIETTE

The carriage stopped and the coachman shouted from the outside that we're already in the mansion of Archam. Under the rain, the maids were lined up at the entrance of the mansion. All of them were wearing black.

What's happening?

We entered the house and we were guided to go where Liz was. Each corner of the house has servants who wear a sad look. Some have tears in their eyes.

When we arrived at the room. Liz was at the center, she's wearing an all-black dress and a hat with a thin cloth covering her face. At the very end of the room, I saw a big portrait of a woman that looks exactly like Liz.

"Ladies, you came," Liz said with sadness plastered on her face.

"What's going on, Liz?" I worriedly asked and held both of her shoulders. She teared up and hugged me.

"It's my mother's death anniversary today." She said sadly.

I and Adelle coaxed her when we went to a room with just the three of us.

"Why? What happened?"

"I-I accidentally killed my mother." She started.

"I didn't mean to do it! I promise it was all an accident. I lost control of myself because of the holy power inside of me. Then I-I... Unleashed it when I cannot hold it in any longer. I'm really sure that I was alone in that place but my mom entered."

The household of Archam contains a holy power that can be destructive at times. Although the members became priests and anything relating to God. Liz is a special case.

She is born with this world's God protection and was proclaimed as the one favored by God. And her hidden ability is still hidden now.

"If-If I had been more careful... Father won't be mad at me. If I had learned to control my power a bit earlier, maybe I won't take my mother's life... I am a demon." She cried.

Liz is not a Saintess but Chaos.

Chaos is a goddess in this world that makes all balanced and fair. There's a tale about the goddess being punished by god. But this world's god loves chaos too much so he only made chaos a human being.

Chaos suffered, she has an unusual appearance that makes the people scared of her, soon enough they started to call her a witch. She was wronged and hurt. And then Liz's ancestor the previous Duke fell in love with Chaos.

The influential Duke takes Chaos as the Duchess of his estate. And many years passed, Chaos gave birth to a girl. That is Liz's mother. A rebellion happened and the ducal house was eliminated.

A maid had taken away Chaos' daughter and fled into the Oltaire Kingdom. Chaos is dead, but her consciousness remains.

She kept her daughter under her watch. But of course, she couldn't do anything but watch. Liz's mother was adopted by a Marchioness, a woman without a husband or an heir. She adopted Liz's mother and made her their heir.

When Liz's mother reached marriageable age, she was courted by Marquess Archam. And they had Lizbeth Lin Archam. Lizbeth was born with a weak body when she was still a baby. Any time, she could die. That's when Chaos interfered.

She offered her all to her granddaughter and Liz took all of Chaos' power. Liz survived death that time. But chaos is a goddess of balance. When you give, you must return something. And Chaos took Liz's mother's life…
